People are being really immature about this whole autofill thing.

Like holy shit, even with auto fill this champ select is still better than the old one, stop being a bitch if you get autofilled support. I hate seeing people get autofilled support and get so tilted that they just auto lock whatever champion they were going to play in the role they wanted.

Buck up people.

I've been in several games where a few people on my team get autofilled, and guess what? We work together and see how we can trade roles and fit everyone where they'd prefer to be. It doesn't always work, but if you get into a game where your team can't even communicate in champ select, chances are you weren't going to win anyway.

This new system is infinitely better than the old one. Last pick was unpredictable and made for more toxicity from teammates in my experience. I think Riot should balance the support pool and make more supports relevant to get people to play the role instead of forcing people into the role, but as a whole, this system is much better than the old one.

It's definitely better than before draft pick where you couldn't choose your role at all. And I agree that if you get autofilled you shouldn't do... what the OP said people always do. On the other hand, it's incredibly frustrating to get autofilled for such a large portion of your games, and especially in ranked where you aren't there to learn. There is literally no reason why I should have to do something I actively dislike when I'm playing a game. I enjoy playing literally every other role. But support is boring to me, and aren't games about having fun at there core? Better off waiting 10 minutes in queue than getting stuck playing support for 40 minutes when, honestly, there's no fun in it for me.

Cause it's extremely fun to play a game, but be completely barred from the playstyles you enjoy.

Autofill feels broken though, i set my primary as support and secondary Top and got mid rofl. I dont mind playing mid since its my main lane but autofill still feels a little broken if it isn't placing me in support when i set it as primary and its the lane that needs to most people.

yeah, what that guy below said. Draft mode is for getting what role you want, for sure. Its why you're not in blind. You do draft for a better quality of game, where you get roles you want. Autofill completely ruined draft by taking that away for the sake of speed, and at that point you might as well do blind. And in ranked thats just completely wrong. I play mid lane mages. I get autofilled support, or ADC, or top, and I'm fucked. I can play those other roles on a regular, but if I've been playing more mid, I should be able to ensure I get mid for the game modes that matter, while also having one lane also so its not everyone queuing for one thing. Seriously, imagine a diana main getting autofilled support, or adc. Just because we own ashe and know how to play her somewhat doesn't meant thats okay for ranked, especially with how the ranked system is right now. And in general, autofill makes draft more like blind, and i dont want that. I dont want to randomly be assigned a role. That's not fun. It takes away all choice at the game. If i knew for a fact I had to play support 1 time out of say, 10, I'd be fine with it. But randomly giving people support AND other roles isnt cool.
