Autofill can be improved upon
I get why Riot wants to implement something like autofill, it shortens queue times by a fair amount, especially in higher elos where there are less players. However, many of the league players I know, including myself, would rather sit in a long queue than get autofilled into support in a ranked game, and getting your role twice with two dodges then getting autofilled is just infuriating. In my opinion, autofill should be removed for platinum and lower. The player pool is large enough at these levels that autofill is unnecessary. For diamond and up, the player pool does tend to dwindle quite a bit, and not only that, but players at this level are more likely to be able to play decently whatever role they happen to be autofilled into. Most people are autofilled into support, which is for many people a boring role, and not only that, but mechanically difficult and very hard to carry from. This leads to enough dodges that I end up waiting in queue two, three, or even four times sometimes, especially later at night or early in the morning. Here is my solution:
- In ranked, remove autofill for everyone platinum and lower
- Keep autofill for all elos in normals and for diamond and higher in ranked
As another option, if completely removing autofill for platinum and lower is more unrealistic than I think, then at least make it so if you get your role and somebody dodges, you can't be autofilled for the next game or something along those lines.
