[Discussion] unique character abilities are sometimes unhealthy but give reason to play a champion.
I remember reading a riot post about how they thought that they tunnel visioned on making champions overly unique and that ended up creating some very unhealthy abilities that made champions op (See azir/Kalista).
The thing is I find the success of a champion is generally related to unique gimmicks that the champion has, lee sin is super over played because he is fun. Ward hopping is fun, flash ulting is fun (for the lee player only usually).
The newest champions
are all sitting at under a 2% playrate. Why, personally I think its because generally they are considered either bad or boring to play.
None of their kits give you any reason to play them. Ivern has the most boring jg expierence of any champion I have ever played. And his kit is just boring... woahhhh he can make bushes, so fun so fun. Kled is interesting but just full of recycled abilities. taliyah never really had good feed back even from her early development stages (people said she was ugly) and Aurelion sol was pretty cool, but has been nerfed to the point where people don't even bother to learn his generally clunky play style.
So here the discussion. What should riot do to make new champions more interesting to play? Or give players reason to play them.
