(MOVED) Why is Permaban even an option for punishment?

It seems completely crazy to make permabanning an option for anything outside of account boosting or game manipulation (scripting or the like). Chat restrictions, mute buttons, or chat bans make so much more sense for toxicity. Maybe I'm alone in this thinking, but I don't understand how Riot could justify banning anyone for chat in a game that was pushed, promoted, and grown by those people. Especially when the rules are so vague and ran by an automated system. I don't know why, but this has really started bugging me today.

Because some people don't care about chat restrictions. Then they don't care about Ranked restrictions. Then they don't care about Temporary bans.

Some people need a boot in the ass.

there are so many other restrictions you can give...but from a business perspective, how bad does someone have to be for them to say "i dont want your money anymore, you are arent worth the trouble" Im just saying, riot is a for profit company, so...it doesnt make a sense to tell people they dont want their business.

because sometimes real life consequences (like losing real money you spent for in game content) is the only thing people will react to! i find it completely plausible to perma someone who is not willing to reform.

Anything that is punished is considered unacceptable. The punishment is to get you to stop doing that. After a certain point there is no reason to think they will change from another punishment so you remove them(perma ban).

I believe in the permanent ban for toxic playstyle i.e. feeding intentionally/general trolliness or boosting/hacking. However,** unless it is in excessive amounts**, I do believe that toxic use of in-game chat and the way teammates treat one another can easily be corrected with chat restrictions or the such.

Seems like a bit much to kick out all short-tempered people just because a few bad apples spoiled the bunch, but people who are just acting like jerks at their own will need to learn their place.

Riot has talked in the past about how they don't love permanent bans -- the players tend to just make new accounts anyway. But after a certain point, if someone doesn't care about chat restrictions or temporary bans, what are they supposed to do? Putting them permanently on a "prisoner's island" is essentially the same as a permanent ban.
