Does ranking up maining support mean you got carried?

As of this past weekend I made it back into gold. Now I realize reaching gold is not a huge deal to some players but its an achievement for me. Especially since it is still fairly early into season 6. My buddy said "well all you do is play support so you must have got carried." I did inform him that I actually play fill I just so happen to get support 95% of the time. So this creates the question. Is it easy to rank up as a support? And what is the hardest role to rank up as?

I personally believe it does not matter what role you play when playing ranked. If you play a role or roles at a certain skill level then you will eventually rank up to that rank or elo level. What do you all think?

I am out of practice as support, and im lower elo, but your friend isn't right. Sure sometimes you do get carried, but you enable your team as a support. Just play a game with a terrible blitz and its a 6v4. #supportlivesmatter

It's the opposite really. Supports carry their team.

  1. Their primary role is to babysit an adc who would be useless without a player dedicated to protecting them.
  2. They have to take shit from everyone. It's like an abusive relationship
  3. Not only do they have predict the enemies movement and abilities but their apc and adc aswell to protect them.

Aka. Most important role to be honoest.

As an adc main, with a good friend of mine supporting me when we duoQ, I would say that supports are a very important aspect of the game. They are generally in charge of initiating fights, saving their allies, and making plays that others must decide to act upon. However, the key is that last part. If you have a crappy team, and you land a god hook as Thresh, but your team doesn't follow up even though it would be favorable, it's on them. Supports are crucial play makers in the game. Although they may not always deal the most damage, they are usually very cc focused and in charge of getting their allies fed. It is still possible to be carried while you're supporting, but the same is true for any lane. If you have an 0/5 top laner and still win the game, he got carried.

TL;DR- Supports are crucial. Good supports are even better.

If you're bad yeah (just like... all the other roles). Every time I get mid in ranked I get carried if we win, hands down.

if the support role was as your friend said, a bad support wouldn't be able to fuck bot lane or have any impact on the game whatsoever. Then players would cycle them out and we wouldn't HAVE a support role.

There would probably not be any high ranking support mains then, either. There comes a point when you have to carry yourself, so to speak.
