[Crosspost] Tutor Mode for Bots

Hello Summoners, I usually post in GD but unfortunately, they are going through some strife over there right now and well, the only threads getting attention are people talking about how bad it is right now. Anyway, I decided to crosspost this here because I like how slow and comfy misc is these days and frankly I think I'll get better responses from you guys anyway. (Don't tell GD I said that, though)

The Post Proper:

Before I start, a little background: I've been playing this game since beta and I rarely end a season ranked, so I'm not claiming to be professional or anything, in fact I'm usually bronze or low silver, but I'm obviously versed on all the champions (as I own all of them) and the items and runes system (I have 7 pages).

I decided to play some intro bots and help new players get acclimated with the game and provide either advice or positive feedback while not using my knowledge of the game to just run a train on the intro bots and go 50/0/0 as AD soraka or whatever. I actually had a great time and made a few friends who sometimes ask me for further advice, but it was frustrating that I won't receive IP for these matches.

This leads me to the heart of my suggestion: Tutor Mode. A level 30 account can offer to be matched with 4 sub-20 accounts in an intro bots match who opt in to the Tutor Queue and the 30 is expected to do mostly what I did: Help the new players have a good time, offer advice on builds and try to strengthen the core values of League of Legends such as sportsmanship and teamwork. Also the champion select period of Tutor Mode would be expanded up to 3 minutes to allow introductions and fielding basic questions as needed. The new players would (hopefully) learn something and the experienced player would get to give something back to the community and receive a reduced IP reward, I'd even say something as low as 15 per match would be fine.

How do you feel about this, [Misc]? Would you be more motivated to assist our fledgling summoners if you could earn a small amount of IP as opposed to the 0ip we get now?

As an aside, if any of you new summoners are reading this, feel free to add me and invite me to play bots with you. (not normals as I would be matched with other low accounts and that isn't fair to them)

Some pointers for anyone looking to join me in assisting new players:

1. I highly recommend champions that can take advantage of cooldowns like Lux, Lulu or Sona. So you can minimize damage dealt and let the other players get the kills. (Give an Irelia a kill, she'll be happy for a match, teach an Irelia how to get a pentakill and she'll be happy for life, as they say).

2. I can't stress enough how helpful it is to be able to heal or shield your lane partner, or revive them when they walk into the tower, so always keep Zilean, Janna, or Soraka in mind too.

3. For summoners forget ignite and flash (well you can keep flash if you really need it) and focus on heal (if your champion doesn't have one) or teleport to zoom across the map and save the day when another lane is struggling. Some loss is inevitable, but a good game and a bad game in Intro Bots can really make the difference in whether or not some players keep playing, why not give them a leg up now and again?

Things to keep in mind while playing

1. Always introduce yourself in champion select as a level 30 account looking to assist new players. I get a surprising amount of positive feedback immediately from this.

2. Remind players to use consumables if they buy them and aren't using them in lane

3. Watch what the players buy for their starting items and point out if they are buying the wrong damage type, IE Dorans Ring on Garen.

4. You're the veteran player, practically a de-facto leader of the group so do your best to not let players get out of hand with insults or arguing over lanes. If one player is hogging all the kills a polite reminder that this is a team game usually gets them to settle down and let the rest of the team have fun, too.

5. If you can spot players that are struggling to keep up, swap lanes to support them. (or if they are literally unable to keep up remind them to purchase boots of any level to move faster).

6. Positive reinforcement works about a million times better than negative. Don't feel the need to chastise every player who doesn't build to the meta because, come on, its intro bots. But if you notice somebody that is building smart give them a little praise. "Nice choice, Kat, liandry's provides all the stats you need as an AP assassin" etc.

7. Have infinite patience, because some people are just going to be belligerent, not talk, tell you to fuck off, or that they are actually a platinum smurf. They don't want your help, move on, somebody else is going to be much more worth your time.
