Hey guys, I know basically none of you know me, but I just wanted to say thank you. Sincerely, truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Back in 2012, I was a working a dead end job, drinking heavily, secluding myself indoors and avoiding living because I was positive I wanted to die. My best friend of then 15 years was barely able to talk me down from running in front of a train once. What I'm saying is I poured myself into playing this game back then so hard to keep from having to deal with my chronic depression, and diagnosis with a long-term disability that I thought might be a game-ender for me. I met a lot of awesome people that didn't even know me, didn't even know if I wasn't maybe some jerk-off troll just trying to rile them up when I would get depressed while playing, and they didn't care. Those people just gave me encouragement in that one match and then I didn't see them again. I'm ashamed I never before came to these boards and told you guys just how much you saved my life. Without League of Legends and the people who played with me keeping me sane back then, I'm nearly 100% certain I would not be here today.

I can't keep it together to type anymore, thank you League of Legends community. My life has improved substantially just like you guys told me it would in so many games, so many years ago. I'm replacing the computer I started playing league on in a few days and it stirred up all these memories from then and a decade ago when I built it and I just had to tell you guys: No matter how many threads you see about "Shitty LoL community" or trolls or whatever, there are MORE of you FANTASTIC people that saved my life. I am grateful to each and every one of you.

Damn man, its weird but this game has become a huge part of my life as well. It has allowed me to stay in touch with all sorts of friends who live in different areas. It has also given me the opportunity to focus hard on something while going through my own problems. Ultimately I would like to start spending more time away from the screen but league was there for me when my life was starting to spiral out of control. With my new focus I was able to obtain a goal I set for myself (reaching gold). It helped me realize just like in life if I want to achieve something then I have to work for it.

Thanks for sharing and I can definitely relate.

You'll find a lot of people on league of legends are actually nice folk, even if the younger ones tend to get riled up when losing a lane or something, hardly any actually have any malicious intent. It's good to see the community came through for you, I know I've met some wonderful people on this game, and feel that the quality of my life would be less without them. :) So yeah I agree, a trick that always helps me is I remind myself that there's always a person behind the screen :) Helps keep my attitude in check.

I'm so glad those good people were there for you then. It's crazy how just a few kind words can change so much. Just knowing there's somebody who is willing to do that for you can mean so much.

I was in the same position for the most part bro... I had a 4-2 am job 7 days a week a girlfriend of 2 years that I love more than anything else that left and it all got fked up within a week... I lost my job due to an injury and a few day before that my gf left me because I worked to much and didn't spend enough time with her also with my past record its literally impossible for me to find any job because I sold some weed... Anyway I lost my house, my car, and pretty much everything I cared for in such a short period that I just shut down... One day I remembered this game though and decided to lug myself out of bed after probably close to 2 weeks and started playing... Its crazy how much this game has helped me get through those rough times because I was like you I probably wouldn't be here if not for it... But now I'm starting a new job tomorrow I've been talking to this amazing chick for about a week and everything is starting to brighten up... So id like to also thank Rito "even though you destroy your game every 2 weeks for a few days lol" and the community with whom I've grown close and made some hopefully long lasting friendships...

Good lord man, maybe you should seek professional help.

This is not an insult.... it sounds like you have some very real problems that need addressing/fixing... and playing League of Legends is not something I would advise as treatment for such things.

There are those people out there that truly love the game and are wonderful people. People focus too much on the bad, and don't realize how wonderful League can be.
