I was happy with the Leave Buster concept until...

...the game never loaded even if the loading screen was perfectly fine for me. It was showing me loading normally until 100% and one of my teammates was the one not loading. Not only that. I was playing with my husband here at home and his screen was showing exactly the same. It never crashed. It never gave a hint that it was us the ones not loading. After a fuckton of time we ALT F4 to reload to discover that it was us and that the ARAM game was over (below 7 minutes). THen the Leave Buster sends me a warning that I fucked up the game and thta I had to agree with that warning. Sent a support email and I was told that now I am in a low-priority queue. First of all I NEVER DISCONNECT OR AFK. NEVER. EVER. If i got chat restricted because I have sometimes been into fights on the chat I would understand. But I NEVER LEFT A GAME. EVER. And the Leave Buster punishes me for a software problem? And the support team tells me to suck it up? Seriously? I was happy with the Leave Buster because I fucking hate afkers and dcs especially on ranked games. But now I see it doesn't work properly and that the support team is not willing to do anything to add human interaction to a system that can't recognize when it has been something intentional and when it has been totally not your fault.

I hate that 'I agree' popup.

Uh, no. Your servers never showed me as connected and I had to force LoL to close and reload.

Typing I agree shows that you are at fault, and not Riot, which is bullshit.

First they came for the Trolls, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Troll.

Then they came for the Ragers, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Rager.

Then they came for the AFKers, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a AFKer.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I've had this happen to me a few times. I load to 100% quickly as normal, and then one person is taking forever to load and freezes at a certain percentage for a long time.

By now I know to just kill the LoL process and restart it... but the first time it happened I was like "man this guy is taking forever to load... wow it's been like 5 minutes... geez what is wrong?" then I restarted my client, finally got into the game and it was 12 minutes in already. The guy who wasn't loading had actually been in there the whole time, and it was actually me who didn't load.

There definitely needs to me more transparency as to what is happening during the loading screen. I expect to 100% get into the match if I load to 100% with no problems... I shouldn't have to kill my client process and restart to get in.

What I hate even more than this... is when EVERYONE gets to 100% and it takes a "fuckton" hahahah... of time to get into game. I mean WTH is going on at that point? Are we all at 100% or NOT?

I have been VERY afraid of exactly what you experienced multiple times.

this happened to me too. it was such bs. didnt get thrown into a low priority tho, it just gave me the warning that i had to agree to. if rito is gonna make their entire penalty system automated they should make sure their crummy client works. i cant tell you how many times it crashes for no reason and its definitely not due to anything on my end

This is, sadly, a known bug in all games. If the game doesn't load in the first 2-3 minutes, just quit and reconnect until you get in. Often the game has got bugged and erroneously shows someone else as not having loaded, when it's actually you that the server has dropped.

IndianHippie3/31/2015, 12:20:24 PM2 votes

This has happened often even in normal games. It is usually an issue with your pc getting connected to the game right after it loads. Often there is no warning that you are stuck on loading screen. I just have to make a choice, dc and reconnect (not often an ideal one because sometimes everyone is stuck in there and if i had waited a minute or more i would be in), or I keep waiting on loading screen hoping that its not just me but everyone (again not very idea cause the rest of them could already be in game..

I was playing a normal match one day and all of sudden the game made me d/c(I had like 500 ping). My internet was perfectly fine since I could do anything else with it and I have a decent desktop so everything was fine until I was forced to d/c and I couldn't reconnect back into the game either, since the client was being externally slow. That was the first time I had ever left a game for the whole match. I also got the Leaverbuster warning and it wasn't even my fault.. -___-

How does the leaver buster work? I've disconnected in all my games today but haven't gotten a warning. Is it only if you're gone for long periods of time?

LessHerpMoreDerp3/31/2015, 1:47:42 PM1 votes

the other day I was in a game when I suddenly dced, and couldn't get back in. So after trying to get back into the game for 10 minutes, I gave up and decided to play on the NA server. When I got back to the EUW server, it was like the game never existed, i didnt show up in my match history.

I was just wondering, as I could be wrong. But when someone disconnects or takes forever to load, if it takes more than 5 minutes the game starts without them, correct?

At least that's what I remember hearing once, so I generally make sure to check my phone after awhile and if it's been over 5 minutes I restart League. Could be something to keep in mind?

Still, there is a flaw with the loading screen. I believe pretty much everything has something that spins/flips/whatever to let you know everything is loading normally, if it stops the program has crashed. 'Tis why I liked it when we could see other peoples ping in loading, if nobodies ping was fluctuating at all, something was wrong.

Now all we have is these loading percentages that barely let us know if somethings up. Makes me paranoid every time I play.

I don't even know why i got that leave buster , i don't have a leave , in both matches , i don't think it was for dancing near the enemy nexus for 3 minutes cuz we won

Same thing happened to me the other day. I put in a ticket and the rep insulted me by trying to get me to troubleshoot my network. I had explained this happened to 3 others I qued with.. Anyhow, they were unable to do anything but pss me off :p I was able, along w/ the other 3, to get in around the 10 minute mark because we all closed and re loaded the client. It's great to get punished for Riots sht client/servers :/ Even though leave buster isn't supposed to really punish those few and far between instances, it could sure stink to have this issue a few times and be banned due to it :/

I was once playing Xerath and was doing fairly well for myself, I even ended up with an unofficial penta, (which it should've been but thats not the point).

Anyway my internet provider (Comcast obviously) crapped out and our entire area lost service and I lost connection for about 20 minutes, we were already so ahead that my team was able to push into the already downed inhibs, but still, it counted as a loss for me, EVEN THOUGH MY TEAM WON AND I LEFT THE GAME THROUGH NO INTENT OF MY OWN FOR 5 MINUTES!

I hate the leaverbuster system a lot atm

My brother just got a ban because he game got a "missing file" error once and could not load, and than about a month later our internet went down in the middle of a game.

Yet another Riot Fail ( a phrase soon to replace "Epic Fail" in popularity) in a long line of historically ill conceived attempts to be "big boys" while picking their nose and pooping in their diapee

Every spoiled little child doesn't understand, some peoples internets/ computers aren't as good as their's. I used to report people who never connected to the game until my wifi started sucking and I wasn't even able to contect to some games. U can report a person who afks in fountain and does nothing, but never report someone who dcs it's not right. You're basically saying, oh hey your poor and can't afford really nice wifi and a really nice computer, I'm going to make your life even worse.

Oh also it sucks when your parents pull you out of your game randomly, like they didn't tell you that you were leaving/ had to wait to start another game.

phirestarter3/30/2015, 6:33:25 PM1 votes

Same thing happened to me last year. Now I always watch the loading screen to make sure the ping number changes every so often...

I actually got a LeaveBuster warning in my own custom game (which I was the only one in the game mind you, practicing Eve jungle clears) for remaining inactive while I had to answer some people's chem questions...

Migrañaboy3/30/2015, 10:41:34 PM1 votes

It's really annoying that afterwards Riot makes you type I agree that I'm voluntarily dissconecting and know the consequences. wtf

Bonnibel3/30/2015, 11:14:20 PM1 votes

The exact same thing happened to me a few days ago, but on SR instead. I loaded 100% quickly and some of my teammaters were still on ~11% while others were 100% too. After waiting so long and going back to the desktop multiple times to make sure my screen wasn't frozen, I decided to close and reopen the client. The game was 6 minutes in with everyone playing normally.

Since then I have this obsession to look at my ping and teammates loading %. If they don't move at all I start to think something is wrong

Welcome to the club, i mean its only your fault that riot servers are bad.

JedenVojak3/31/2015, 2:43:09 AM1 votes

Yes, I have also experienced this phenomenon, and I find that "I agree" nonsense to be childish and insulting.

How to deal with leavers in the game is a problem that Riot really hasn't solved yet.
