I am gold 1, my other account is plat 5, though i mostly play norms.

I was gold 5 end of last season and here are some things I believe helped me climb.

  1. improve last hitting

  2. play cautiously so as to limit deaths

  3. improve map awareness and check minimap as often as you can without sabotaging your last hitting and mechanics

  4. limit the numbers of champions you play in each role. This will allow you to have some muscle memory and have the champ feel like part of you, that way you can concentrate more on macro decisions like map awareness and rotating to take/defend objectives. (this tip alone i believe could help you get to high gold)

  5. Prioritize objectives, especially towers, over kills. Do not get greedy chasing a low HP enemy when you can instead destroy a tower.

  6. push your advantage (things like clearing the enemy jungle and taking dragon on your way out after destroying an inhib) However, sometimes you may have to instantly back so they don't rush baron on you. Just play more games and these decisions will become easier.

  7. Lastly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, focus on your play, NOT your teammates' poor play. You will be paired with many bad teammates. If you whine (even mentally) about their screw ups, your individual play will suffer. Focus and what you can do to either help them or compensate for their mistakes. Strive to improve every game, and quickly analyze what you did wrong when you make a mistake, such as dying or losing the game.

To climb you will be put in games where your team is meant to lose (based on ranking). You have to win some of these games to climb, and to do so, YOU have to be the factor that pushes your less skilled team over the edge and takes the win.

good luck and remember have fun. Climbing is easier if you are having fun
