So, I want to apply for a position at riot...
...but don't really know what I'd actually be that qualified for. I've read over their available positions multiple times, but it just feels kinda overwhelming, and I have a bit of an inferiority complex. (or just really low self-esteem)
My dream is to one day become a game designer of sorts, but I know full well I don't have the skills necessary for it at this point in my life. But just working at riot in any position would be a dream come true atm.
As for what accomplishments I have right now:
- I've graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor's in Web Technology and Design
- I'm currently employed at Xerox as a cable support technician for Cox communications
- I'm currently Silver IV (in promos for S3) and have been playing league since September 2010
- I made a (small) Don't Starve mod while in college
And as for what skills I have include:
- basic knowledge of CSS/html, C++, and Java
- basic knowledge of photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
- basic knowledge of Cinema 4D
- very strong (imo) communication skills
- a great voice (cox customers keep telling me I sound I should work as a radio or game show host)
- very strong in a team environment
some things that I need to improve would include:
- I struggle at starting independent projects (am a big procrastinator when left to my own devices)
- low self-esteem
- keeping my voice at a reasonable level when speaking (not always aware that I'm getting louder when I talk)
But yeah, I think that covers the basics. What do ya'll think? What area looks like it'd suit me best, and what should I work on to make myself an attractive hire for said area? I would really like to turn in my resume right away, but I keep getting cold feet when I read the list or look at the requirements for every position. (that, and I hate writing cover letters)
