First of all: I love it, it was the best thing you guys ever made.
Now for the question. Is there a reason Katarina is always featured in your cinematics? If it's a matter of how her fight style really brings to the fight, there are other mid laners that are just as mobile as her, like Akali, for instance.
Of all your four cinematics (please correct me if I'm wrong about the number), the only one that doesn't feature Katarina is the dominion one.

Katarina (and Ryze) are two of the most recognizable characters to LoL; having one (or both, in the case of the last cinematic) helps remind some people who may not be as familiar with the other champions that it is the same game their watching. Yea, I know they have their logo at the beginning and end of the cinematic, but I think it could help establish that familiarity and recognizability of the game (for example, if they're showing off the cinematic at a convention and a person walks in mid-way through the video, and isn't sure what game they're looking at since they don't play and don't know all the champions, but they remember seeing that one LoL cinematic where Katarina was featured and suddenly they know what game their watching. It's a stretch, but that's my best guess)

I'm pretty sure this is the case for a lot of other video game franchises (having a familiar character or element to let the audience know what they're watching), so I assume it would be similar for LoL. What I want to know is why they pick Katarina over like, Ashe. Ryze is one of the tutorial champions, if I remember correctly, so why wouldn't they pick Ashe (who I think is also one of the tutorial champions). That way, when new players see the cinematic and are like "Man, that character was really awesome, I want to play as them", they can actually play as Ryze or Ashe from the start. Idk, maybe Katarina is in that beginner champion list? I haven't made a new account yet so I don't know who's on that list.
Zarkkast2 votesIf things didn't change the tutorial champions are Ryze, Ashe and Garen. Ashe showed up on their first cinematic and never again. Garen showed up in the last one while fighting Katarina. That being said, despite Katarina not being so acessible to new players, she's pretty iconic on the game itself, personally, when I think League Of Legends this is the first image that comes to mind: http://www.nerdspot.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/League-of-Legends.jpg And I guess the game is known for it, so it could be a reason. As for Ashe, she's indeed iconic too, but there could be some reasons for her not to be so much featured:

Zarkkast1 votesNope. She just threw a few daggers at Ahri and Leona at the beginning to bait them. Other than that her entire fight was around melee attacks.
