Dear Riot, I have some ways to improve the Mastery System.
Hey Riot,
As a player, I definitely LOVE the champion mastery system. For me, it's League's form of an achievements. The Mastery system has become a way for me to experience the game in a multitude of different ways. It encourages playing different champions in order to gain points. "How many champions can I get to mastery 5?" I keep asking myself. "Ooh, I can get this guy to mastery 6 now!" I keep thinking.

Another feature that I absolutely enjoy is the fact that it tells you how many Mastery Points you have in general. This definitely sets the scale of your actions in League.

The Mastery System is well generally well set up (well, except for the fact that you need blue essence for higher masteries grumble grumble) .... HOWEVER, it seems incomplete in some way. The way you guys set it up is absolutely PERFECT for a better reward system, but yet, I haven't heard of any plans.
For example, in my experience, there are two types of Mastery Achievers:
- The "Ash Ketchums" that want to get everyone to a certain mastery.
- The "One Trick Ponies" that spam a single champion to ludicrous mastery points.
For the "Ash Ketchums" you could reward them at certain levels of overall mastery points. Say, at values of 100, 200, 300, and more, you could give them a specific summoner icons or ward skins. Another thing you could possibly do is reward icons or ward skins to people who get certain amounts mastery 5s, 6s, or 7s.
For the "One Trick Ponies" you could award them based on the mastery score on a certain champion. You could reward them for getting to 100k, 300k, 500k, or even a million mastery points. "What could I reward these dedicated players with?" you may ask. Well, I remember a while back there was someone who suggested that you let the player use the ability icons for the champion as Icons. This could be a wonderful thing. If not that, you could always give them a nonspecific trophy icon sorta thing.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents on this subject. I hope you can at least consider one of these mechanics. Thanks for reading!
ALSO, to you mastery achievers out there, feel free to share your OWN achievements in mastery collection. What's the point in trophies if not to show them off, after all?
