It looks at a lot more than KDA to grade your performance. i'd guess the biggest hit to your grade was that you only placed 10 wards in a 31 minute game.

You have to die for your adc, but the game wants you to not take unnecessary sacrifices. Basicaly, you have to focus on making BOTH come out alive than just the adc. Yes, it helps in game, but dying a few times can hurt your score.

Also, did you place pink wards?

I support a majority of the time, and in my experience, it's really flippin hard to get an S. I've gotten it on Karma and Sona, but that's it. And it's probably because I accidentally get kills/stay far back enough that I don't die as often. But the tank supports? Forget about it. I take too much damage and I sacrifice myself for the adc because the goal of supporting is to help your teammate do the best they can (and hopefully they get an S rank because of your awesome job). Most tanks, like Braum or Alistar, have the cc to keep the enemy off of the adc, but they lack the power to kill or movement speed to get away from poor situations. And most of the time, it's the adc who is overextended when you happen to be out of wards. So yes, you die for them. But hopefully they can turn the fight around and your death won't be for nothing.

Also, if you're looking to get chests from hextech crafting, find a duo partner. Help them get the S rank and you'll still get the chest. I have a buddy who I duo with and even though I only get an A or B, I kept him alive and peeled for him so that he can carry the team. And if I do a good job getting him fed, he gets an S and I'm rewarded with a chest.
