I do not enjoy having Sona supports.

I love when my ADC locks in Ezreal ando calls me out on picking Taric by saying Sona is better for Ezreal. My response is generally "Ezreal deserves only the best, and the best is Taric. Sona cannot be better for Ezreal because how can you be better than the best without being the best?" And then I like in Taric and we win the game.

Out of personal experience, I avoid bot lane unless I'm laning with a friend like it's the plague.

Pretty much every time I go adc, the support does something crazy. I know it's unlikely, but still, I don't want to let anyone down to begin with lol.

Funniest story was when I called adc and my support decided they're going AD Sona. Wound up getting 3 pentakills. Good to know they did better than me lol

its ok, i dont appreciate playing with adc's who just afk farm.... while i do more damage as sona, as i die less, as i make plays and die to save my adc, they get the double and i get to hear how great they are... you know, till laning ends and they die because they thought it was all them and they didnt need a support...

but hey, ya know, takes all types

Sona love

Sona is a great support! Hits pretty hard, and them heals tho. You cannot get close to a good sona. And, if your ADC is behind or the lame, she can pick up the slack.

As a support main who also plays ADC on the side, I wholeheartedly agree with you from both perspectives.

Playing as Sona is so entirely unfullfilling. She's an amazing champion for beginners, but once you start grasping the basic concepts of the game, you realize that her playstyle is entirely binary, takes little mechanical skill and offers little to no utility outside of her rather high cooldown ulti. Her W heals and shields are so mediocre outside and even during the laning phase. I can't ever play this champion and feel useful asides from being an ult bot and cheesing some damage with Q lich bane proc. Her entire combo is press some buttons, hit R and land a skillshot occasionally.

Playing with a Sona can be a pretty miserable experience especially since the skill of Sona players vary vastly. If the Sona knows how to position well and dodge things, she can be very oppressive in lane, landing a lot of that point click poke. But her W still sucks for it's mana cost to heal ratio. Her E is still practically useless (hell, yellowstar doesn't even take a point in it until level 8). So if this Sona doesn't use her Q actively, you are essentially 1v2ing down in bot-lane with an EXP absorber.

I really honestly feel like she needs a re-work. I don't think I've felt more useless playing another champion.

Your Sona should know how to evade skill shots, if they don't then it will serve as a good teacher to learn how abilities work so they can dodge it next time.

You should never feel the need to block skill shots unless it would 100% kill them (e.g. Jinx R when they are low, Jhin R when they are low, etc)

Sona is one of the more forgiving supports to be hit by skill shots too since she has a heal and can just play safe to heal up, before continuing the Q spam zoning.
