@Meddler Problems with Update and Balance Team
This part of the Riot Team is held to a higher standard than any part of the team. I feel bad for them with a lot of the criticism and harsh words they receive, but it gets really annoying when community feedback is outright ignored. Some of the team ideas are amazing. The reworks for Poppy, Taric, and some of the newer champions are very good. The design team behind newer champions is very creative and put together, despite some being made very weak or too powerful. Most people can look past minor things like a new champion being too weak or powerful.
The major problem your team suffers from is you don't listen to player feedback, spend almost EVERY year updating the same champions and leaving almost the vast majority of champions that really need the work . . . out to dry. You spend months and months on updating certain champions and don't listen to player feedback and when it comes out . . . . the champion is changed so much that no one likes it. A little change is good but when you ruin the identity of a champion that players didn't have a problem with to begin with, it makes you team look very careless.
Morde received probably one of the worst reworks in LoL history in my opinion. You removed his identity as a spell castor and tried to make him this AP bruiser . . . . that no one really wanted. You gave Morde a very useless dragon mechanic that doesn't really help him at all . . . unless he gets dragon. You forced him into a role and lane no one wanted him to be. You completely butchered his identity that players loved and played him for.
Karma has received the most number buffs out of any champion. While she may have a kit that is balanced and fair, she lacks any sort of flair, late game potential, identity, and more that you took away from her. Karma lost her fans and shield bomb at the expense of a lore that isn't fantastic and a group AOE shield that functions like a Iron Locket of Solari, a mechanic that is already in the game. Her W is a weaker Morgana ult and her R+W is a Fiddles heal with Morgana ULT. Karma's VGU is rushed and she doesn't even have a proper running animation. You took away her damage potential for more support mechanic which effects her late game very badly. It is not done right at all. Karma is a rushed champion with no originality or flair. She is only made viable because of the countless number buffs, which doesn't help her kit and identity at all. Even if you choose to keep her E+R . . . . make a identity and theme around that . . . make her a champion that benefits some way with shielding and being known as the prominent shield champion. You continue to ignore player feedback in place of useless number buffs that do absolutely nothing to her.
Ryze has been updated SIX times. Master Yi, Zed, and Shyvana receive updates every single year that buff their kits to insane levels. Tank Ekko is still a major problem with this game that you have done nothing about. Older champions are being ignored for simple kit, mechanic and number buffs in favor of a Soraka and Zed update for six months. The Mage Update, while it did have a lot of positive work on Zyra and Cass, didn't accomplish anything for champions like Karthus, Heim, Vlad, and other champions that are considered immobile. You decided to give even more power to Brand, Malz, and Vel when the community outright said not to Brand and Vel and think Malz is WAY to strong. Malz and Brand didn't need those two passives. Vel needed MINOR work and not the extent of the work he got . . . not compared to Karthus in my opinion.
Shen is a failed rework in my opinion. You took away a lot of things from him that no one asked to be taken away. He is in a bad place right now.
Vlad is a mess. I think he is possibly too strong now and you continue to butcher him.
I just got done playing a game as Karthus and he feels very slow, his attack animations are still very slow, his Q still has a very long delay, and he just feels like Zyra did before her rework . . . only useful after he dies so he can use all of his abilities freely. Karthus needs more work than Brand did.
I seriously hope you are noticing a trend with your Update and Balance team, Meddler. You don't listen to player feedback, spend unnecessary time on champions that don't need it, spend way too much time trying to balance broken champions when it would be better to nerf their kit or give them a new ability . . . . then just simply trying to buff and nerf specific abilities, ruin champion identities and kits . . .. and spend YEARS . . . . . . to make a announcement that "We are actively not working on Morde and don't plan to this year. We do think there are major problems with Karma and that she has no identity and a very bland kit. We understand the frustration surrounding Ryze and we promise to get it right, but we won't let you know about any of the changes and ideas for him until we put it on the PBE.
Your Update and Balance team is VERY slow, don't listen to player feedback, and waste time on champions that don't need the level of attention as others, like Morde, Shen, Vlad, Karma, Akali, Eve, and many others. Zed will be buffed again in some way and another champion no asked to be touche d. . . will be ruined. It's ok Riot Games will get to it in a few years. The patience of players is growing very thin and most of us just don't have faith in your ability to do anything right anymore. Making fans of champions like Morde, Karma, Shen, and Vlad . . . wait more years because . . . . well you are just too lazy to work on them . . . .makes you look very lazy and not passionate about them. You spend way too much time updating the same champion every SINGLE YEAR. I tell you . . . Fizz, Yi, Zed, Shyvana, Darius, Soraka, Sona, Vayne, Xin and MANY OTHERS receive updates and buffs every single year. Spend more time on champions that need actual work than the same ones every single year . . . .the reason why this keeps happening is because you change too much about the game every single year . . . and are forced to put more work into already . . . . toxic or balanced champions . . . . and leaving the champions that need actual work . .. . behind and ignored. Hire more passionate people to work on champions and listen to your community for once.
