Riot please stop placing new players in silver 1.

9 times out of 10 they are not up to the skill level of silver and they generally do not have the mental strength to play in higher ELO. What I mean is they generally feed and don't know how to cs properly. Then when they feed/have shit CS they get flamed by either their team or the enemy team and will do 1 of 2 things: intentionally feed or afk.

I think a new player who wins all 10 games should get placed highest silver 3 and if they lose all 10 games bronze 3. Seems fair to me.

Thoughts?

are you calling silver 1 high elo?

And new players aren't placed in s1, new players that haven't touched ranked before start at 1200 mmr, which is s5-s4, which is the average. If you win 8 or 9 of your placement matches, you'll generally end up in s1 depending on who you played against and how your wins/losses were distributed.

8/9 wins to get placed silver 1 is very easy to do. One of the reasons climbing in silver is so hard is cause new players. You shouldn't get placed above average you should get placed at average which is silver 5-3

so for winning almost all of your placement games against silver-gold players, you should be placed in low silver? I don't think you really understand how placements work for new players.

They work easier than placements for old players. Most of my friends who went 8-10 went from plat 4 to gold 3.

Again, you don't really understand how placements work.

For new players, your starting mmr is set at the average, which is 1200 mmr. For your placement games and a few games after, you gain/lose a huge amount of mmr so riot can place you approximately where your skill level is more quickly. If you win 8 of your placement games playing against high silver - low gold players, why would they place you in low silver when you're obviously more skilled than that?

For players that have played ranked in previous seasons, they take your mmr from the end of last season/pre season, and average it with the average (1200). Let's just use the example of plat 4 with 1900 mmr at the end of the previous season. You'll start the new season out at (1900+1200)/2 = 1550, which is around gold 5-4. For winning 8/10 of your placements, it makes sense to be placed in mid/high gold. Unless they've changed something that I'm not aware of from previous seasons, that's approximately how they calculate rank.

This is what I see 9 times out of 10, new players get placed silver 1- 3 they feed and lose almost every game once placed and fall all the way to silver 5 where they remain for the rest of the season.
