She's an assassin, and anyone who played top lane in season 2-3 knows she has many counters, so even if she's OP it's only in mid.

Literally every bruiser does well against her in lane, particularly if they have some form of sustain, or can itemize for sustain well. With the trinket system you can even get free pink wards.

If you use it she can't stealth, and so her major defensive ability is useless. I'd gladly give her a few gold if it means I get a kill.

It doesnt mean you get a kill though, she still could of flash or her ult and she could then run away

Those are things you should be taking into account when fighting her regardless of if you have a pink ward or not. Besides, I'll trade a pink ward for my opponent's flash any day.
