I thought you couldn't use an inactive name for new accounts, only name changes?

But this name I was waiting for is now on a level 1 account. Did Riot change their rules on inactive names?

If i remember right inactive accounts will EVENTUALLY lose their names, but there are bots that repeatedly try to signup for accounts with inactive account names, then when they get them they can sell them to people who want the names.

They said you have to buy a name change, you can't make a new account with the name. But the account is now level 1, meaning it was a new account.

But it wasn't a name change it was a new account being made. Riot's even said it themselves when I looked it up to make sure.

Not was Sir Haxalot meant. They could've made a new account. Then bought a name change immediately after; claiming the name.

Why would they do that? RP costs money, they want you to use all you will.

Because it's probably used by someone who just wants to sell the name or account to someone else.

I mean, did you think they would prevent people from buying stuff with RP even if they weren't owned by Tencent? You don't understand how business works. Nobody makes games exclusively so you will have fun. Their main goal is, and always has been to make money.

Evidence of account selling will result in bans. And then the names will be freed up. Do note, people wanting to buy and sell accounts actually makes league accounts more valuable, thus it's technically not contrary to their wishes. Their only issue is when people do that to avoid spending money on the game itself.
