Let's have a talk about Quick Silver Sash

Ok, I get it; QSS is a useful item because not everyone wants to run Flash-Cleanse for their summoner spells. It's useful and has good stats like MR, with a great active that can help win you the game.

But can we please stop using this as the "holy grail" of counterplay? I mean, I can't think of the last complaint someone has had about a champion that hasn't had a single response that says, "Buy QSS, stop your bitching." AND NOTHING ELSE. I mean, I agree, mention QSS, but stop holding it up like it's the answer to any problem, and the only thing that you need to completely counter a champion.

Let's take, for instance, Veigar, one of those FotM things. Everyone complains that he always lands his stun, his skills do way too much damage, and his AP stacks give him the upper hand in lane. You know almost every discussion about him has at least one of the QSS comments I mentioned. Not to point out that his wall has an obvious particle effect that warns you where it's going to be, not that his skills are all skillshots now, and bullying him out of lane early can keep him from getting too strong. Nope, the answer is just one thing, the one thing that will win any matchup against Veigar:

item 3140

I mean, really, who even buys QSS as an AP mid!? Why do people keep suggesting this when outplaying the Veigar is a much better solution? Same thing happens in discussions about Riven, Leona, Ryze, Zyra, or anyone else that has any form of reliable cc.

Is anyone else tired of this? Please, mention it if you are. If you're not, please, explain. I would love to see what you think. Maybe I just don't understand that QSS does deserve this much attention. /shrugs/

How to beat veigar: Velkoz item 3222 item 3110 item 3065 item 3020 item 3020 item 3020 You're probably wondering how this could possibly work. Well, it's an ap-less build. So his ult loses that 80% enemy ap scaling. You outrange him The mpen from the boots stack and the total cost of the build is cheap af Mikael's will not save you from the stun. It's for cdr, mr, and mana regen. You can use it to heal every 3 minutes if needed though. The idea is that you kill him using your 15 + (10xlevel) true damage per proc passive pretty much constantly. By level 18, you'll be doing 2120 magic + 820 true damage (assuming 53 or less mr) if you can land a QWERWQ combo. Most of which is AoE.

Basically, you let your passive do all the work Probably don't want to try this in ranked though

I mean, maybe buying QSS wouldn't be the ultimate form of counterplay if it wasn't so much better than Cleanse. On a 150 seconds less CD, it clears everything Cleanse does, plus many champion-specific CC (Space AIDS, for example). And if you upgrade it to Scimitar, it gives MS on activation.
