How will Overwatch impact League of Legends?
Whats up guys...just a little question to satisfy my curiosity...
I have heard a TON of hype over the upcoming release of Overwatch, and everyone I know is itching to play it. They all say that it will be their 'new League of Legends.' This got me thinking, as things do...How much will the release of Overwatch impact League?
If you take to boards as a sign of times, Riot should be terrified. I am constantly seeing posts on how bad and unfun the game has become, and i am super interested to see if this new game is enough to even pull the unhappy masses away. Now while i do hear a ton of 'this game sucks now' and 'i quit,' i have yet to notice any real difference. Also, lets us not forget that there are already other MOBAs out there and none have managed to make a real dent in League's dominance. Personally I have tried both Dota 2 and Heroes of the Storm, and neither managed to grab me for too long. Dota just didn't click with me. I love the map and some of the in-game art, but had problems with the gameplay. Plus, my nubbishness with MOBAs makes playing with an unlocked camera nigh impossible (yeah, i know, its bad). Heroes of the Storm wasn't that bad, i liked the simplicity of not having items to worry about, and having the whole game rely much more on teamwork than individuals is nice. I never had to worry about a semi-fed Yi/Zed completely taking over a game (huge plus). After everything I still managed to fall back to League...maybe its just the cast of memorable characters.
Anyways...what do you think? How much of a change will we see, if any?
Personally, i don't believe anything will change, i mean after-all, it has a $60 entry cost, while league is free. However, the counter-point to my counter-point would be...just how much would you pay to make League fun again?....Well, about $60 (maybe)
