What is it that people don't like about Dynamic Queue?

I can only think of 3 possible reasons, and they're pretty f*cking petty:

  1. Somehow people don't feel that people who climb as a premade have 'earned' their rank.

  2. People don't like getting smashed by premades (even though getting matched against a 4/5-man premade as a single player) regardless of the fact that they're probably the odd man out in a team with a 4-man.

  3. They feel victimized by abusive premade teammates (i.e. being stuck on the same team as a 4-man).

I think most of it is a scapegoat thing, combined with harder matches.

The interesting thing to me is that Dynamic Queue has made more players complain about problems that have existed in Bronze and Silver for years. Can't carry hard enough to make up for allies mistakes? No one listening to you? No one pinging? Getting blamed and flamed for no reason? Hate getting paired with a player that is so terrible they clearly belong at a lower elo? I've been there, I'm still there, and it has nothing to do with premades.

People refuse to accept DQ because in their mindset, the only surefire way to accurately show their, or another person's, skill is to play alone with all random variables. With DQ, now you can blame every single variable on smurfs, or boosted players, or toxic premades, or troll groups.

People also like consistency. At any sign of something they think is unfair, they will get mad, come to the boards, and start making and upvoting threads about the problem they think is at fault. Before DQ, it was all about trolls and feeders. Because the person is playing solo in Solo Queue, obviously they won't blame themselves, so they will look at what else is there. Other Solo Queue players. So they are at fault.

But with DQ, now there is a slew of new inconsistencies that could be why they lost. Must be because they have a 4 man premade and we don't. Must be because I had a toxic premade on my team. Must be because this guy on my team is boosted from DQ. Must be because they had a smurf. Having Dynamic Queue creates these possibilities, but the person complaining about these doesn't even know if those instances were true. The simple fact that they CAN happen means that they MUST HAVE happened. I bet you that at least 50% or more of the example complaints about this on the boards actually didn't happen. There was no smurf. That guy wasn't in a premade with them. But it LOOKS like it, so that guy is going to buy three keyboards for all the keys he's about to break making this boards site a living hell of spam threads about how Riot is corrupt, dead, ignorant, and the blame for all of the problems.

And I'm going to get arguments. I'm going to get people trying to show me loopholes to what I wrote, or that I'm wrong. I might be wrong. But I'm staying by my point, and some of you will read this and agree.

Also I think the matchmaking is pretty shit atm. Having said that, it will improve with time. New systems take a while to iron out their kinks.

Oh! and change. A lot of people don't like change.

Kind of tied to that (and number 1) is there are systems predicated on SoloQ that still exist. Tiers for example were designed for solo play and break down a bit here, but people are completely tied to the idea and unable to change from the mindset of what was to what is. If you were a Silver before, you're still a Silver now. You just happen to be a Silver in Diamond.

While I believe 1 is true in some cases (depends on if the person is the one carrying or carried), my reason is a modification of number 2:

I couldn't care less about the opposing team, I don't want to be solo on a team with 4 due to the communication exclusion that takes place there. I'm all for 1,2,3,even 5; just not 4. I also don't care if a 3+2 vs 5 happens once in a while if it means getting rid of 4+1 (who is usually forced into whichever role the 4-man doesn't like during champ select).
