Explaining what ranked divisions currently look like
Hey I just posted this is another thread but figured I would make this for players to see. I am a veteran player who is not great but have played this game a lot over many seasons. The below information is not 100% statically correct but is based on quick research, experience, and observation of what ranked divisions currently look like for those trying to understand their placements.
With the rank reset everyone dropped and the longer you wait I do believe you start with less of a handicap against you. About a week into ranked everyone drops roughly 350-450 mmr. (About 1 tier). We know high elo players (challenger through Diamond) can only be placed as high as plat 1. So naturally plat 1 is all ex challenger & master players maybe some diamond players. From there you can expect tiers and divisions to change by pretty much subtracting a tier. Below is my observation (as I am an ex gold 5 elo player)
Silver 1-2 is mostly plat players with some low gold players. silver 3 is mostly mid gold players. silver 4 is currently filled with gold 4-5 players. Silver 5 is gold 4-5 + silver 1. Bronze 1 is Gold 5 - Silver 2 Bronze 2 is silver 1-3. Bronze 3 - silver 3-4.
Rest of bronze is a mix of silver with most of bronze players being in bronze 4-5.
If you look at op.na.gg roughly 40% of the top players are silver 4 or higher. This equates gold 5 range elo about midway through the season. I ended season 5 in Gold 5 and after my placements I was placed into silver 5. Almost everyone in my games were prior year gold 4-5 players. I just recently ranked up to silver 4 (won most my games and expected to jump to silver 3 but I think with the reset the mmr in divisions still messed up).
I wanted to make this post because I am sick of hearing "all this silver players or blah blah blah silver" in my ranked games currently. People have to realize you are still most likely playing with the same elo ranged players you were before season 6 started.... Literally almost everyone in my games was prior year gold.... we get it your not silver 4 neither am i... so stfu and lets try and win. Or on my alternate account that was silver 3 and is now bronze 2. "ugg damn bronze players blah blah blah"...... #1... we are all here so shhh and #2. everyone you are playing with was mid silver last season just like yourself... so stfu and play.
Anyways wait roughly a few weeks and ranks will be back to normal. If you really like ranked and climbing realize everyone in your elo dropped roughly 350-450 mmr and probably recover around 100 a week. As stated above to give yourself a reference as of right now Silver 4-5 is equivalent to Gold 4-5 elo.
