I have 150k mastery with him, playing him since Season 3, my favourite champ by far. First it would be helpful if you tell me why you're bad with him i.e. what do you think you're doing wrong with him.
Most people struggle with the laser; I do not use smartcast - first I click E, then hold the left mouse button while dragging it. Then I release. It's kind of like drawing a line on paper, you draw in the direction you want the laser to fire. Feel free to drag it from the edge of the range, or even in reverse when you're running away.
Save your Gravity for only when the enemies engage you. Drop it on yourself when you know some assassin will jump on you.
I always pick Q in the beginning, then max E. I do this because first level E deals almost nothing, and eats a LOT of mana. Q is way more grateful for level 1.
When you misplace your ult, or you kill n enemy with it, by all means, click R again and redirect it towards another enemy. I've seen peole so many times forget to do that and die because of it or miss another kill.
I almost always build due to the slow and extra health it gives. Very useful now when assassins are again rampaging the middle lane. Augments always go in the order Death>Power>Gravity, since other combinations, no matter how many times I've tried them, are lackluster. So much for the rework heh.
When you're running through the jungle, smack any monster with Q when you have the Augment for speed, very helpful when running away from someone.
Thunderlords is much more effective for him than other keystone masteries, like it is for many other champs.
Positioning with Viktor is very important, stay behind your tanks but not too far away. If you know you'll be focused, prepare to drop everything onto yourself, because that's where the enemy will be.
That's about it I can remember from the top of my head now without specific questions. Oh, and as for the skin, I like best the Prototype one. Creator has a nice splash, but I don't think it looks very good in-game (and also many newbie Viktor players by rule have that skin so I avoid it xD)
