Just because the south is more "overtly" racist doesn't mean they actually are more racist. Perhaps if your link wasn't taking words out of their context, or if it had it's date represented relative to population density, it could actually mean something.

EDIT: I'm not saying they are racist or anything, I'm just saying what he said doesn't add up.
