Why Ranked just isn't worth it.

Ironically I was going to make this post when I came across another that basically depicts what I was going to write anyway by torasuto

"Just played a game where my LB built Morell and Grail. Still cried she needed blue buff..then later in the game chose to go get blue buff when drag was up and everyone was near it ready to contest..then came to drag with 10% hp.

If you're going to build 40% cdr with a sh*t ton of mana regain. Blue does NOTHING for you. You fking mid laners aren't entitled to have it every time it's up.

In the same game my lucian built PD 2nd. Then started complaining about how tanks are too strong. After which he built a BT and continued complaining.

Before complaining about something try actually doing something to counter it. If a tank is the issue for the adc get a bork get a lw get a yomumu hell get a cleaver. Just because you r%%%%%ed adcs are being babied all game doesn't mean you don't have to at least try to use a brain when playing to win.

This is at least 75% of the issue of why people lose games in bronze/silver. You don't know how to identify when you NEED to do/have something and when it's just a luxury.

Ex. If you're in mid lane and the tower is at 50% hp while drag is up and everyone is going to contest it. That tower is a luxury. Drag is the need at the moment so fuck the tower and go down there. If your team is insanely behind and you can't contest anything then dragon is a luxury. The tower is a need. Take the free objective to help your team get global gold to make their way back into the game.

As he states, that's why I lose a mass amount of my silver games. I know how to counter. I know how to counter build. I know when and where I need to be most of the time, and even if I don't win my lane, I know usually how to get my other laners ahead, and come back mid game.. But it really doesn't matter that I know my job, how to do it and such because I can't carry a 4 man losing team who doesn't know how to do these things.

Even attempting to help in most cases results in bogus answers in return. Telling someone what to build to counter their lane, or whatever is causing them issues, usually results in them destroying their build over all (Because they don't know how to incorporate it into their usual build or what other item to drop instead), or I get an answer like "well that's just now how I build this champ" ... yea.. ok..

Ranked is really only worth playing for players who live league day in and day out and can carry hardcore. There are people that good, and its great if you are exceptionally good, but ranked is really only worth it for those players.

The rank I deserve is unknown. Do I really deserve silver if I am capable of going toe to toe with players above gold? I really don't think so, however again I can't carry, so it doesn't matter and isn't worth my time. There seems to be this allure and untrue belief that if you deserve an elo above what you are, then you should be able to carry your games under that.. Which just.. isn't true.

I'm not saying I'm amazing, I make mistakes, and I don't know the perfect counter plays for every champ vs every champ. I lose my lanes sometimes, and I get out farmed sometimes, and I've heard all the excuses as well. "You'll [eventually even out where you belong". Well if it takes 3-4 years to get that average area where I'm supposed to be, it simply isn't worth it. 1 year of ranked will not achieve that unless you are exceptionally good; for people who have a 9-5 job, and other responsibilities in life, but also are not terrible at league it just isn't going to happen in a time frame that makes it remotely worthwhile or even fun.

Just sucks..

I agree with a lot of your post, and the quote. But if you don't want to play ranked cus it frustrates you then dont! Play the mode in the game that makes you feel most relaxed and the most fun (like games should). I only play norms because I have fun doing so (granted I joined my friends ranked group cus we all love each other even when we do stupid shit." Just do what makes you have fun (TROLLING NOT INCLUDED)

Checked out your match history. You build item 3145/item 3152 on Kennen . Like not even just once. You seem to think it's his core or something lol. You built item 3068 on Leona and item 3040 on Sona

And your Akali builds, just lol. You think picking items that don't synergize with your role is counterbuilding?

Built it on Kennen because why not test something when your team is going completely into the ground without question. There was literally no way we were gonna win when the 4 other teammates are argueing in base barely leaving it.

Hextech I built on kennen for early game when top laning. Perfect? probably not. Does it work? does in silver. It's netted me many lives that would of been deaths without it top lane, and allowed me multiple times to go 2v1 top and win on those ganks. I don't need you to tell me its wrong when the experiences in silver with it tell otherwise. Does it work in gold and higher? probably not.

complete disagree. 1. of all i hardly object that you can go toe to toe with above gold players on a regular basis. i have had bad games where i 1sttimed something and lost to a silver player. it happens. that doesnt mean the silver player deserves plat or i deserve silver. 2. if you were much better than your elo, you would be able to carry. i got out of bronze beeing silver 4 level AT BEST. but if you think your better than everyone else you wont improve and never climb because of your mentality 3. it has absolutely NOTHING to do with having a job or "living league". there are many, MANY players in dia+ that have jobs or even go to university (which will often times even take more time). stop making up excuses 4. "i know how to counter, i know how to counter build, i know where to be". having a look at your match history, this is simply not true. just some examples: you always build the same items on leona, and rushing sunfire is complete garbage 99.9% of cases. you either want to get early sup item or locket if they are heavy AP. if theyre heavy AD early wardens mail and supp item will do.

support kennen with WOTA and without sightstone. just NO.

what is that akali jungle game? you didnt even build a jungle item or anything remotely useful tbh.

If your mana management is bad, improve it and dont build a (for supports) incredibly inefficient item

EDIT: as support player 47% CP isnt exactly great either

I really shouldn't need to say these things but I will anyway.

  1. I play with friends above gold and do fine, without mics mind you, and play against players who are gold or higher on my normal games. Experience tells me enough that I can.

  2. I never said I was "much better". But we will have to agree to disagree, as I've seen many players in silver and even bronze that were better than many players I've seen in gold, and still couldn't get out of it. Experience again tells me otherwise. Just because you have, and others have, doesn't mean it is for everyone.

Especially when everyone has different playing styles or likes different champs, this also throws in some seriously different situations into the algorithm. It's ignorant to simplify it so much to where "if you're better you just will no matter what". League isn't that simple by any means.

  1. Did I say otherwise? I believe your reading comprehension failed once again. I never said those who live and breath league can't do it. Nor did I say those who are doing it don't have a 9-5 job etc.

However the likely hood of those who have a 9-5 job, and don't play league everyday, but only maybe 2-3 games max every other day, but are still decent at the game, won't be finding ranked worth it in majority of cases.

You really need to stop thinking in extremes, there are middle grounds you know.

  1. Those past games were horrendous as is, some items are questionable yes, some items I sold off and or replaced with test items towards the last 5 minutes of the game when my team decided to start bickering in base without leaving it.

Unless you sat and watched my games, don't judge simply on the match history. That also is quite ignorant.

Note: I never said I am amazing or superb. I make mistakes. Pointing out I make mistakes does not prove anything.

It's like people think just because you're not as good as them at the game, whatever you say is now nullified and automatically wrong. lawls. League community....

You just NOT on gold/plat level if your stuck in silver. Its just a fact that if you were constantly playing on thst niveau you'd climb. It really is that simple. But you can just go on making up excuses instead of trying to improve obviously.

I am very well able to safely say that your NOT a decent player by your post, answer and your match history. Appearantly you cant evaluate peoples skill, but that doesnt mean there is noone that can. Constant bad performance just shows that your a bad player

Problem is I never said I wouldn't climb. I could at my skill level given the time. Just because you're "stuck" in an elo doesn't mean you deserve that elo/rank. it's an accumulative factor situation where as the players get more skilled, your skill level compared to the opposing team cannot over ride your teams inability to match. This creates a situation where if you don't play alot, and or live breath league, you won't be getting where you belong anytime soon.

Now at higher levels this doesn't factor in, but at lower levels where even the worst players can get stuck in bronze/silver, this unique situation does exist. "Elo hell" doesn't actually stop until after Gold, as even many Gold I players are abysmally garbage at this game.

But of course in todays age it's much more simple to say "well if that's where you're stuck you must deserve it!" and not actually use your brain. So I don't blame you.

tbh yeah. i'm done playing ranked. everytime I try, either I do badly or my team does badly or both.

Seems to be how it is, and its once in a blue moon that you can play a little poorly and still get carried to a win. Seems like if you're not playing 200% or better than your usual self, you'll lose in the majority of cases..

This is so true. One game I went 2/11/3 as Ahri (I was against a Leblanc okay) and EVERYONE on my team carried, even the support. But when I went 27/6/13 on Akali, my team had no clue what they were doing and played like complete idiots. I hate ranked.

preach man preach. let the church say amen. people have no brains they all farm until the first tower in their lane falls and then goes mid to steal all the mid laners farm no matter how early in the game. no almost no one knows how to counter build anyone they almost all just build the build they build. and expect you to buy all recommended items or what the lcs pros commonly build and if you dont wtf man you building man and when your build carries them they forget they had a problem with it. people lose alot of kills early game they give up at 20 ive seen teams who got all outer and inner towers and lost only one tower give up cause the enemy team had about 10 more kills than their team. everyone believes support should full their tray with useless crap and that is gonna make the adc carry omg sup[port has 20 farm the adc backed was the support supposed to let the gold dissappear into the system vault. any thing that isnt a meta pick or build is trolling until it carries you then its still trolling but you wount report it anymore in bronze and silver build all your characters in every lane even support with intention to carry cause you would be fool to expect other people to carry for you i expect 2 useless or and or afk teamates every game so i try to play as hard as 2 people every game and some times feel like i play as hard as 3. and rarely get a teammate worth 2 people too
