Advanced mathematical Analysis
As a college student majoring in Mathematics, I'm quite interested in finding ways to apply mathematics to the things I enjoy. I've turned to League of Legends as my big project. What I plan on doing is creating a formula that takes into account several different factors such as CC/Mobility/Base Stats/Difficulty to Play/Damage/Class and other factors. All this is to see if there's actually "Power Creep" in the game.
My quest will start with the oldest champs first, and work my way up to the present day. I will actually take into account reworks and relaunches listing each one as a "new" champion at the relevant points in time.
I'm going to avoid using win rate as a factor since that is very rarely an indicator of how strong that champion is. Simply because the perceived power of a champion will lead to inflated pick/ban rates and new players trying out the champion and failing, causing the champion's win rate to suffer. As such, mathematically, win rate is not an acceptable factor, however pick/ban rate are quite powerful and useful.
This will take me the course of probably several months to complete, but I'll try to provide updates from time to time.
Now, are there any factors that you guys can think of that I haven't listed that would be applicable to my formulas?
