@Riot - Hextech Chests and Pre-Season

In all the Hextech Crafting articles, you've made a point to note that you can only earn chests once per champion per season. While we can assume this means a reset once the season ends, how does this affect the preseason? Will we be unable to earn Hextech chests during that time since the next season hasn't started yet?
