A letter from one support main to many.

Listen, I know you all have some really shitty marksmen sometimes. Asshats who just complain and whine and bitch and moan, but seriously, this is getting out of hand, and Its been getting out of hand for quite some time. I've been a support since season 2, hell the first champion I took a liking to was Sona , a champion I've grown apart from in recent years, but have always been grateful for. In all these years, I've come across my fair share of bad marksmen players, toxic and simple alike. But throughout it all, I never condemned the whole Marksmen role on account of a few bad apples. I play my role, and I like to think I play it well, at least the number of marksmen in my friends list tends to attest to it.

But here's the important thing. As much as you may feel unappreciated, as much as you may feel abused and neglected and beaten down. You aren't the Jungler. We lane with our assholes, but the only pressure we're responsible for, its bot lane, not the entire map. Now we may play champions with relatively low damage and high utility. We may not be able to carry every game (who can?), but we do what we can, and we help because that's what our job is. You don't play support for the shitty carries of the world, you don't play it because all you ever dreamed of was being showered with praise. You do it because its what you enjoy, and its what the team needs. Take pride in that. I know I do.

But these threads, the constant complaints about ADCs, the constant threads about how abused and neglected you are, the memes that depict marksmen as whiny self-entitled bitches who have no chill and nothing but spite and anger to throw your way, we don't need them. We may not get praised every time we make a flashy play or a clutch save, but in the end we don't need to. A job well done speaks for itself, and your marksman, whether they say it or not, appreciate and know how much of an impact you have on their lane and on their play. When you save them from the brink of extinction, only rotten apples don't recognize your contribution. The rest of them are thankful to have someone competent behind the wheel. Someone who knows how to keep them safe, and catch enemies to secure those kills. The good marksmen don't bitch and moan for every kill you accidentally take. They don't get pissy if you accidentally auto a minion or two, because they understand what you do, and why you do it.

We supports we get by off the grain, we sew our seeds and hope that through our hard efforts, our marksmen bear fruit and carry us and our team through hell and high water. We do what we can to make them the damage thread the enemy team HAS to kill, and we're ever present to tell them "No". When you do your job right, they know. They don't have to tell you, because just as they know, so do you. If you're starving for attention, then toss them a bone. When we get kills bot lane, I always tell my marksmen "gj", because I'm only half the lane. All my CC and harassment means nothing if they don't convert off of it, if they don't add the damage that makes that kill come to fruition. If all marksmen have a massive ego, then indulge their fantasy, because they'll remember the nice words.

So please, fellow support mains, stop the influx of complaints and jabs at your fellow laners. We both share the bottom lane. If you can't respect your lane partners, then how do you expect them to respect you?

For every "my shit supp won't ward report pls", there's 10 "wtf stupid jg gank my fukin lane u shitter /all report jg shit". I don't see why people say support is the role that gets shit on the most. Praised the least sure, but it's a thankless role to begin with. But anyone who actually think that supports get ragged on more than junglers must have had god-tier junglers in every single one of their games that know when and where to gank, because god forbid if you mess up a gank, gank at the wrong time or don't gank at all.

This is coming from a supp main btw. Show the junglers some love, they deserve it!

It works both ways though.

As an ADC main who plays support as a secondary role, I can't remember the last time I've had an ADC bitch at me. I main AD, so I generally know what my ADC needs and I play support the way I'd want my support to play if I were the ADC.

But when I'm on adc sigh, god forbid I eat a blitzcrank hook out of an unwarded brush. I'll never hear the end of it.
