@Riot Ignoring Karma for 3 Years Now. Why?

Karma was the 1st relaunch, but riot always has an excuse not work on Karma. No skins, no lore, no updated splashes, no twin dragons, no haste animation, no shield animation, no unique dance animation, no thematic cohesion, and much more. Every time someone brings up a question about Karma, you ignore it and have been mute about her for three years now. The few times you do answer a question about her, which was only two or three times, you have a nifty excuse as to why she is not being worked on and why you will not work on her.

  1. You did not have the technology to really work on Karma when you relaunched her, which resulted in what we have today.
  2. Her kit is balanced but doesn't fit. We understand this but we feel there are other champions in need of our time.
  3. Karma will probably be worked on during the Enchanter Class Update or an Ionian Event.

The thing is these are all excuses and not actual legitimate reasons as to why you won't even talk about her or work on Karma. You only seem to have excuses as to why you will not work on her, but reassure us that in time you will actually work on Karma. Why is this exactly a problem? You are very aware of Karma's problems and quite frankly if her current kit and visual appearance were designed in a way that fit her theme, Karma wouldn't be a problem. You stripped any identity Karma had and didn't give her a new one. If you wanted to relaunch this champion at least have the audacity to finish it and give us an identity that is cohesive. You cannot even do that to this day. You can work on Ryze 7 times, give Malz a decent makeover in his appearance, spend ample enough time on Annie, Brand and Vel'Koz . . . and for what reason? None.

  • You have the technology now to give Karma the theme, cohesive kit, updated splash, properly designed and unique champion appearance, twin dragons, a proper shield and haste animation, unique dance animation, and more. If you have the technology to give us a cohesive theme and kit, why has it been 3 years and 7 Ryze reworks later . . . and you cannot even be bothered to talk about Karma, besides having an excuse?

  • Karma's kit is not bad. Besides her W that needs to be tweaked a little bit and having a new passive that fits her theme, Karma is not a bad champion. Sure there was things everyone loved about old Karma, but the League of Legends community can move on from anything as long as it is done correctly and we know there is a Development team that cares. You haven't done anything in three years to convince any of us that you care about what is right for the champion . . . . She needs a fresh coat a paint and some cohesion in her kit. Quite frankly I think she is too strong and you guys are trying to hide the fact that her kit doesn't really fit the champion . . . . by bolstering her ability numbers to digits it shouldn't be at.

  • You say you are going to work on Karma during these times . . . yet almost all of the support items and mechanics are being looked at right now. All of the Enchanters that are part of the class have been worked on. Almost all of the champions from Ionia have been worked on. When will Karma get the work she really needs? In another 3 to 4 years when Riot feels it is a good time to work on her. During this time Ryze will have received his 10th rework and a boat load of other champions will continue to be neglected. If you are going to give the community of fans high hopes that you are going to work on their main and favorite champion, don't work on everything around her and not Karma. It really shows us that all you have plans for Karma is walking up to a keyboard and hitting two numbers on it . . . . . to say "Hey . . . . we worked on Karma . . . . . and we have no plans to work on her for three more years, but we will continue to waste a lot of time on Ryze, Brand and Vel'Koz".

I do not feel like you Red Names really understand how frustrating it is to support a game you love, but be ignored by a bunch of careless creators . . . . for years and years. Giving excuses is not giving anyone hope that you will finally address problems with their mains and favorite champions. It is showing us that we are supporting a game we love, but it is being run by a Development that doesn't have that same devotion. You are coming off as uncaring and having a lot of excues as to why you will not work on something.

Karma doesn't need a lot of work compared to the 7 times you worked on Ryze. She doesn't even need that much work compared to the amount of time you worked on Brand and Vel'Koz, which didn't accomplish anything. She needs her relaunch to be finished and properly fleshed out . . . . . so she can be a cohesive champion worthy of being played in LCS. She is not a complete champion. All of the work on Karma since her relaunch three years ago is an insult to all of the supporters of this game and champion. To the countless players like Squid, Midnight Karma and other Karma mains . . . I feel very sorry for them. I also feel sorry for players that main and love Shen and Morde. We need a Development team that cares, communicates, and shows us they plan on actively working on them. It has yet to happen and you seem to have no problem giving it to Ryze 7 times and Brand and Vel'Koz, when there were no problems with Brand or Vel'Koz.

I am not trying to come off demeaning or rude, but it is hard to care about something in a game if the Developers of it do not. I know you can give us a wonderful champion with a cohesive kit and theme, but you haven't showed any care in the world to do so for three years now. It's really insulting and makes you look bad, Riot Games.

So, let's break this down.

  1. Riot decides to rework Karma (3.5) with too little ressources and no proper rework team. Forcing them to rush it.
  2. Riot removes part of her visual identity (fanweapons, dance) without replacing it with something worthwhile (green blobs, shen dance).
  3. Riot removes parts of her gameplay identity (bait potential, mantra resource system, lvl6 spells, tether mechanic....).
  4. Riot adds parts that dillude her identity (adding poke to a burstmage and disruptor CC to an enchanter).
  5. Overall Riot replaces one of the most unique kits back then with a kit that has no unique features.
  6. Riot decides to update her 2 years later, trusting the work with a person, that thinks it's a good idea to remove her most iconic damage spell (shieldbomb) to buff a forced passive nobody likes.
  7. This same person moves the duality away from Karma (damage and utility on all mantras) and converts her into a flexible trinity figure (3 mantras, that only really work with 3 different builds),
  8. This person also considers it a good idea, to give Karma only one damage combo in lane (W-RQ), all while pretending to increase Karma's contextual decision making.
  9. Riot decides to (not) adress the concerns of the community by buffing her into relevancy.
  10. Once overbuffed Riot realizes that a kit without direction and strong values is too strong in competitive, so they remove skillchecks for Karma.

Karma feels like a failed experiment, a test project that they could use to learn about how to rework champions. This rework was a disgrace on all levels except visually (but even here some people would disagree). It did not understand Karma's identity, it did not provide anything new to the game. Rick's update was a confused mess, and just like the Life Balance Team, highlighted how little they understands the champion AND community they were entrusted with.

Any single mistake that Riot made concerning Karma is understandable and defendable. But the continuation of those mistakes in spite of the endless amount of feedback from the community is the real concern here. For once after 4 years I want to see a Karma rework, update, buff, nerf or change that actually shows Riot understands and adresses her issues.

And don't get me started on them "updating mages with identity issues" but not including Karma because she is too mobile. But Ziggs, Kennen and Viktor clearly have no comparable mobility. An then telling us they update her with enchanters, while recently having worked on Zilean, Lulu, Soraka, Sona, Taric and while Bard is still fresh (leaving Nami, Janna and Karma).

This is what I don't understand... if you have a piece of work that is unfinished, why would you put it off indefinitely to take on other work? The worst thing about this Karma situation is that she doesn't even need that much work done to be complete. Her Mantra needs changes so it's no longer a low CD Heimer ult, her W needs updating, her RE shield damage needs to return and she needs a new passive more suited to her theme. Karma needs to be taken back to her roots.

Edit: Also, this isn't a matter of "we can't please everyone with our reworks", you have alienated Karma's core fan base to make her more palatable to the general community. For a game with so many characters that's a terrible thing to do and I hope this never happens to another champ again.

no updated splashes

Her splashes are coming but they do not prioritize them based on who was first. Sion just hit the PBE, Fiora's are next being she only needs 2, Twitch will follow shortly after that and then who knows, KARMA could be the one after that!
