While obviously this doesn't solve EVERY issue, using a cable into a router significantly lessens any significant spikes and DCs. Most of the time, it isn't a server problem, it's your own fault. And using a cable generally tends to fix that problem, unless you have a bad ISP.
tl;dr, Only complain AFTER you've used an ethernet cord and it continues to fail.

I also have 95-100 consistent ping because I live in Virginia.
I also get lag spikes occasionally shooting up to 120-180 ping, and sometimes as high as 800+
Sure, wifi isn't optimal, but it doesn't excuse the poor connection you get simply for living anywhere east of colorado.

Right. And I'm definitely not saying ethernet is the fix-all. However, a large majority of the playerbase complaining about "constantly bad servers" or "ping spikes every five minutes" is almost uniformly due to playing League of a Wi-Fi connection, which is inconsistent by nature.
ISPs might have their own problems, but even if they do, adding in the poor consistent connectivity of using Wi-Fi does nothing but worsen the situation. I'm spoiled by my university's campus internet which is shockingly fast, but even on this awesome internet, when I use the Wi-Fi, my ping shoots up periodically. When I'm on LAN, however, it's almost always consistent.
On the whole, I'm just annoyed with people criticizing Riot for what is primarily not Riot's fault.
