Like I was already broke from riot points and now the Merch store is becoming amazing and filled with tons of cool stuff... I'm becoming concerned that riot wants me to be homeless and broke.

We are in the era of free to play games... with tons of in-app purchases. At least in league skins don't give you an advantage.
Kinjishi1 votesEven so, there were a number of games you could by that were playable online for free. PC games would cost 15-30 dollars. If it ever had an expansion, that might be 10-20 dollars. (prices could be higher depending on the brand, etc.)
35.00 dollar - That might be enough for a game and an expansion previously. You'll get 5000 RP for it in the store, which you could use to get: Firecracker Jinx - 1350 RP Firecracker Ward - 640 RP Arcade Sona - 1350 RP Arcade Baron icon - 250 RP
...with 1410 RP leftover. It seems more expensive than it should be - especially when all the content is on their servers and you don't have it to play on your own PC/mac should they shut down the game.
