LoL Client really needs to assess these 3 things before a person starts a game.

  1. Game files. I got into the client, into champ select, and into the loading screen before the game crashed and told me that my game files were corrupted.
  2. Internet connection. Pretty straight-forward. If someone is going to be playing on 500ms ping, the client should recognise that their connection is bad and advise them against playing Ranked.
  3. Computer competence. Again, pretty straight-forward. If someone almost crashes every time a teamfight because they're playing on some shitty netbook, they really need to be advised against playing Ranked.

If it was possible I'd like to think it would already be implemented though...who knows? Surely I don't.

Evidently the game files check that the client does simply checks that they exist and not whether they're functioning properly.

But the thing is, Riot already checks your ping in-game. All riot would need to do is have a simple 'if; then' command built into the client that that every time you try to queue up it checks you ping and 'if your ping exceeds 150ms; then a warning dialogue box pops up'.
