Riot can you please not set new accounts at silver level in ranked.

Its really hard to carry those 0/11 ashes with 28 farm at 20 min. who are just level 30 with 9 normal games wins, 2 ranked wins and 11 loses.

People are set with a starting point of 'average' as opposed to a starting point of 'terrible'. Makes sense to me.

Can you elaborate on what you mean? I might be being dense but are you saying to not let them in ranked or to place them lower?

What's ranked

2 ranked wins and 11 loses.

You have the same MMR as the people you're being matched with.

In this season you play with that person in mid bronze with 1000 MMR.

In S2 you played with the same person at unranked with 1000 Elo.

It doesn't actually change who you play with.

Even if MMR started at a different point you'd still get matched with the same guy at (start)-200 assuming you still had the same win rates

Elo-like ranking systems require placing new players at or near the median skill level of the player base. Which is around low Silver. If someone has a VERY low MMR in normal SR play, they'll be placed lower, but most people start in Silver.

So, basically they would have to completely redo how Ranked works to do this. Also, if all new accounts started at a very low MMR, high-skill players or smurfs would beat up on bad players for a longer time before reaching their appropriate rating.
