Are there people that just go around and downvote threads for no reason?

I see it way too often where threads that are well detailed and deserve a continued conversation get random downvotes with no explanation as to why. So just curious if there are people on the boards who go around downvoting simply because the title (without giving the content of the thread some chance) or for no reason at all except to make all threads but their own fall down? Hell I see it alot where a thread will be just a title, then the body will either be only a "^" or "title" and they get upvoted like mad which makes even less sense sometimes xD

People need to evaluate the content of a thread before upvoting or downvoting. They're meant to encourage a conversation not say whether you agree/disagree.

A lot of people will read the title of a post only, or just go through the little preview you get when you hover your mouse over a thread.

I'll be honest, I've downvoted threads just based on that preview. Usually they end up being typical "I DIDN'T DESERVE THE BAN RIOT I ONLY TOLD THREE PEOPLE TO KILL THEMSELVES" threads, but still.

Not quite. From the guidelines:

Stick to the Rules, and make sure you vote for the content that you want to see more of.

Not everything requires a discussion. Someone could type out a few large paragraphs about why they want [champion] to be nerfed, and it's perfectly valid to downvote it if you have your reasons for it (like if it were the fifth thread about the same topic in the same day, for instance).

Downvotes/upvotes are a matter of opinion. There's not much else to it. None of us have an obligation to explain why we feel the way we do every time, we only discuss if we, well, want to discuss.
