S is a very common choice for ranking performance. Not sure why people are so confused about it.
Is it just me or are the people asking about S Grade showing their age?
I remember playing Resident Evil... the ORIGINAL and getting S ranking on missions.
In grading S is usually used for Pass/Fail courses where S stands for Satisfactory and N is Non-Satisfactory
imho, grades (competency/ability/whatever) is often ranked in percentile's....
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 ect...
but those numbers are all based off of an "average" so if C = average, and A = above average what's blowing the lid off of the game going to score at.... an S
so if you do as well as the top 9% you get an A, but the game has better than expected ranking as well S.... so S= Superior, or above above average score, the top 1% kinda thing because there has to be a best of the best i suppose
