Why the removal of Dominion is a load of crap

Do I like dominion? No Do I play dominion? No Do I think that it is a good game type? No

So why am I mad? Because Riot has sad that they are actively removing content from their game. Just....wtf? "Dominion doesn't get enough support" well Riot, whose fault is that? You gave SR a HUGE restructure that made it look awesome and didn't even bother to update the models on CS's minions. You stopped giving new champions an animation for capturing turrets. Also, to what benefit is removing this game-type giving you? You've already made it, you've already released it. You are not reworking it and you didn't put any effort into maintaining it so how is removing this game going to help you at all?

Imagine if COD removed a gametype from their game just cause not a lot of people played it?

Well having a matchmaking system for the gamemode does take up resources. And riot knows that, even out of those who played dominion, a large amount were bots. It doesn't make much sense to devote resources to something people don't want to play.

My only complaint is the fact it's being removed from custom games as well...

If no one ever liked dominion, even from the beginning, why should they put resources into it?

I agree with your sentiment with three small quibbles.

  1. They did update CS's minion models, by reusing SR's new minion models. It's why the map suddenly became overrun with massive super minions. Strangely, they didn't enable any of the minion skins (Pool Party and PROJECT) on CS/TT, despite all maps using the same minion models.
  2. New champs should have channel animations, considering they're used for Skarner spires, Rek'Sai tunnels, Thresh lantern, and supposedly Kalista's Black Spear.
  3. The Crystal Scar does have upkeep costs in the form of server maintenance and bug fixes. Probably not enough resources saved to replace an entire map/mode, but it wasn't quite zero cost.
