A Change to Loading Borders?

Let's say you're Bronze 1, it's the very last day of Season 5, and you've just hit your promos. You've struggled so much to get that Silver loading border, yet when it comes down to it, you just can't squeeze out that 3rd and final win in your promos. Whether it was because you got caught out or because your team's Trist wanted to play front line in the last fight, it didn't happen. Losses are losses, and they do happen, but the only difference is with this loss you've now got to stare at your borderless, regret filled loading screen. For every game you play. For an entire year.

The end of the season anxiety hits a lot of us, and honestly for good reason. We're fighting for the end game rewards here, whether it's the Victorious skin, the border, or just bragging rights. The end of the season holds a lot of merit when the cut off date comes through. Which can also be very punishing. What if you were Bronze 1 at the end of the season, but managed to hit Silver 5 literally the day after? Well too bad, no Silver border for you.

Now hear me out, but I think this impacts a lot more than just personal merit or bragging rights. If you que up for a game mid season, let's say a season you've climbed from Silver to Plat, and during the loading screen you're the only one with a Silver border here. Everyone else on your team either has their Gold or Plat border. You can guarantee as soon as that games starts up the first thing you'll see in chat is "What ELO is this??" or "GG Silver ADC," or something along those lines. And you're gonna have to deal with that for the entire year.

I totally understand the need for a cut off date. Just because someone hits Gold mid season doesn't mean they should be retroactively rewarded the Victorious skin for the last season. The skin is a reward to those who met the requirements, and I'm not fighting for that, trust me. But why shouldnt our loading border reflect the skill group we're currently in? In a large portion of my ranked games I've noticed the person with the lowest border will get a lot of flak from the team, despite the fact that they've obviously improved enough to get where they are over the course of the last few months. Not to mention the end of season stress of trying to hit your goal, only for the border to be a year long reminder that you weren't able to get it.

An entire year just seems a long time for your border to be changed, but give me some feedback here, yall. Whatcha think about a change to the border system? Again, I'm not fighting for Victorious skins, as those are rewards in themselves to those who made that cut off. But should the border remain for the entire year after? Or should it reflect your current ranking?

It's unfortunate but most people understand how MMR works. If you're in plat and see someone with a silver border in your game, either your MMR has tanked significantly (plat player) or the "silver" player belongs there with you.

Honestly, it might worry people near the end of the season seeing that, because they will think the account is boosted. But seeing it at the beginning or middle of the season probably wouldn't worry most people.

If you are truly concerned about it though, you can send in a ticket to have your border removed. I had no border for season 5 and was in plat and nobody ever gave me a hard time about having no border.
