Your main is now a Dark Souls boss

Ironclad Dragon·5/19/2016, 12:06:13 AM·15 votes·2,732 views

What does the description of their soul read? In case you don’t know: in Dark Souls, defeating a boss awards you with that boss’ soul, which comes with a item description often gleaning insight into their character, and can be converted into two or three unique items, typically the boss’ gear.

For example, for my main, Sion:

** Soul of Sion, Undead Juggernaut:** A twisted soul steeped in strength. A churning mass of vermillion and sanguine, constantly reshaping itself with great strain. Its conflict is evident of a soul too long damaged, forced too long to live.

Centuries past, Sion was a mighty general who perished in defense of his country’s capital, but not before breaking the enemy nation’s will. In life, he sought nothing more than the expansion of Noxus. In death, the hunger remained, but a new craving took root as well: A desire for release.

Sion's Axe: The brutal weapon of Sion. Though it still holds an edge after centuries, it can crush an opponent just as well beneath its immense weight. With it, Sion could even rend the earth with ease.

Sion shunned swords, believing they lacked heft.

Go.

Soul of the Murder Emperor A twisted soul steeped in strength. A soul forever blackened by the sins of its owner, awaiting reincarnation at the threshold of oblivion only to haunt the realms once more.

The twisted Revenant King Mordekaiser ruled once over an empire so vast it would make any Lord's glory pale in comparison. Having ruled with an Iron Fist he was finally struck down by his foes. But it was not the end for him as his soul's malice and will to dominate kept him forever rooted in reality, returning from the grave to once again conquer what was once his, his reign of terror seemingly never-ending.

Nightfall The Murder Emperor's scepter was forged from the weapons of his fallen enemies, their hate and despair fusing with the metal only to serve as a source of tremendous sorcerous power to the Warlord Wraith. His mace Nightfall calls upon his master's sole reason to exist, thriving in the pursuit of eternal Conquest as the despair and misery of fallen foes sustained the Revenant's bloody crusade, leaving nothing more than hollowed thralls in his wake, their will bound to Mordekaiser to bolster his ever-growing legions of undead-

Shyvana, the Half-Dragon

Soul of Shyvana, the Half-Dragon A soul of Draconic origins that takes the form of an ever burning fire. This soul burns with the rage of a hundred suns, yet a depressing feeling comes from the center. The fire seems to be masking a great deal of loneliness.

Shyvana was born between the union of a mighty dragon and human woman. After being born into the world, all of Dragon kind and Human society sought to rid her from existence as they believed the half-breed to be an abomination. She traveled the lands with her father, avoiding as much human interaction as possible until her father was killed by another dragon. Under Shyvana's hard, battle worn exterior, is believed to be a small lonely girl.

Dragon Born Gauntlets The gauntlets used by Shyvanan, the Half-Dragon within her human form.

These large gauntlets were crafted using strong, Dragon Steel for Shyvana when she joined the Demacian elite guard. The craftsmanship and design allow for swift, strong, and consecutive attacks.

After the death of her father's murderer, Shyvana was given a home within Demacia as an elite guard by Prince Jarvan Lightshield IV. The humans in Demacia found themselves fearing her. To this day, Shyvana doesn't know if they should or not....

Scales of the Half-Breed This chest piece is crafted from the scales taken from Shyvana's dragon form. A warmth could be felt from armor piece.

Unlike most dragons, Shyvana's scales are not made out of stone, rendering lightning magic useless against her. These scales could be seen all over Shyvana's dragon form, and even in places in her human form. These strong scales were Shyvana's main form of protection, her rage increasing their strength, but underneath was a lonely girl who was hardly welcomed anywhere.

Azir Soul of Azir - Emperor of the Sands. One of the twisted souls, steeped in strength.

Use to acquire many souls, or transpose to extract its true strength.

Born to a royal family, but youngest of many siblings, Azir rose to be an emperor due to the untimely death of his siblings. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he led an army known as the Ascended and wrested complete control of Shurima. At the peak of his strength, Azir searched for his own ascension, only to be betrayed by the slaves he set free. The power of the failed Ascension turned Shurima to dust, and Azir was forced to wait many years before he was freed.

Transposed Items: Sun Disc (Miracle) - Create a protective tower that generates light and damages enemies that approach it.

Ascended Spear - Spear of an Ascended Soldier, formerly controlled by Azir. Weapon Art: Conquering Sands - Slide in a direction and thrust your spear for increased damage and shield piercing.

Hmm I'd go with blitzcrank, but haven't played him in a long time compared to thresh. That and what would blitzcrank's boss item be? XD

Soul of Thresh, the chain warden; His soul is older than most records held, he continued his disturbing practice after dying, his will to keep torturing had even denied his own natural death. It was clear as he roamed endlessly, he continued his malicious task with dark amusement. From beyond the grave, to reap the living by cruel force . . . it's still unknown the ultimate fate of those he collected. Better unknowing than to find out first hand.

Thresh's Chain; A vicious improvised weapon, the symbol of his foreboding presence. Unusually heavy, only partially sharp, yet having an unnatural grip to anything it strikes; all used in terrifying efficiency, gleefully in it's original wielder's grasp. Though it was whispered he used other mundane implements for his wicked acts, this one he found inspiring. The fear this would suddenly provoke was unparalleled.

Singed as Black Plague Singed would actually be an interesting Dark Souls boss.

Soul of Singed, The Mad Chemist: A soul lacking any hint of morality, it sometimes seems to pop and bubble much like the Chemist's own concoctions. Merely looking at it seems to distort common sense.

Singed was an amoral man, never caring who his chemicals were used on, what they were used for, or why they were used. Indeed, his only real desires were to further his own studies and to amass coin for his services. Singed was also a strangely paranoid man, and many of his own chemicals he tested on himself before letting anybody else have use of them. His self-testing pushed his body well past the regular limits of a human, though it did not help his already deranged mind.

Chemical Vat: A curiously bubbling and frothing vat, filled with a concoction of chemicals that produce a trail of noxious fumes so long as heat is applied. This thing is amazingly heavy and unwieldy, how Singed carried it on his back like it was nothing can only be attributed to some strange mixture of his.

Not immediately obvious to most, Singed carried this on him in case a deal ever went south and he had to outrun his attackers. Any who were foolish enough to chase him for too long keeled over soon enough.

AurelionSol

Soul of Aurelion Sol, The Star Forger Cosmical energies flow within this soul, stars and galaxies pass through it at each taken glimpse. A whole universe swirling in such a small space.

Aurelion Sol is the only star dragon known, able to craft stars he has passed most of his life illuminating the depts of space with his wonderous works. His fate led him to forceful servitude of an ancient civilization that gifted him with a crown used to control him. Would he try to defy its control over him, one of his stars would die.

Aurelion's Golden Crown The Gemstone Crown still holds the power used to control the dragon and memories of the dragon powers itself. You can hear voices and whispers through it pounding in your head.

MonkeyKing (disclaimer: using some of Wukongs Journey to the West lore for some extra color :p)

Soul of Wukong, the Monkey King A soul born from the destruction and resurrection of the heavens. A golden soul filled with pride and hubris, possessing great power hidden within. It seeks true freedom from even life and death itself.

Wukong began life as stone that fell from the heavens and shaped by the forest around him. Living with the monkeys of the forest and eventually named their king, he seeked every challenge possible. Eventually his search for a worthy opponent lead him to his mentor, Master Yi, who taught him the ways of Wuju. His signature technique allows him to almost endlessly copy himself at will, each clone being as strong as the original. Many have seeked to prove themselves against the monkey king, but to no avail.

**Ruyi Jingu Bang ** The legendary weapon of Wukong. It was originally a twenty foot high, 17,550 pound black iron pillar. After Wukong lifted it out of the ground, he was able to shrink it down to the size of a staff, where it then changed into its current red and gold form. It is able to grow and shrink to almost any size at its owners command.

Zilean would be intresting to see maybe you would have to kill him in a certain time frame or else he will always comeback Ok i thought of something

A Soul Of The Chronokeeper A soul of a twisted time, of memories lost to both the past and the future, yet hidden inside the soul they can be found yet to all who dare to see just remember this, " There is no greater grief than for a loss that is yet to come."

Zilean, once wished to be able to protect his people from every calamity yet he knew that even with his great magic it would not be enough to protect them from every calamity for he also knew he would one day have to die but he thought that if he was able to warn them, and tell them of every tragedy that would be enough, but once he used his magic to see into the future he saw every tragedy in the world and his people and knew he could not leave them, blinded by wanting to stay near his people he mustered his magic in order to prolong his life, yet by his own blind ambition to want to protect his people and think of ways to save them he failed to notice that the very magic he uses to prolong his own life killed every and all being near him, yet blinded by his wish he still looks to find way's to save his town, and every ghost in it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Old Clock of Memories A simple designee of an untold age, in the form of a silver pocket watch with the big hand, and little hand frozen in place yet, if you press your ear near it you can lightly hear the sound of its tick's followed by the sound of laughter and cry's.

How is it?

Aatrox isn't my main, but the inspiration hit me.

Soul of Aatrox The soul of Aatrox, one of the five Darkin beings. It writhes and beats in one's hand, as a heart would, sending a wash of power and vibrancy through its volcanic veins with every pulse.

Aatrox was a mythical being, appearing throughout points in history when great wars were being waged. He always went to the losing side, spurring them to victory against impossible odds. It wasn’t until the wars were over that the unlikely victors realized they had committed terrible crimes in their bloodlust.

Blood Well A clear bauble, worn around the neck. It fills with sanguine ichor whenever blood is spilled in the vicinity. If one were to take a mortal blow while wearing it, the orb would shatter and stave off death, funneling the health it accumulated back into the wearer. The orb requires repair thereafter.

Myth and legend told that whenever Aatrox was struck down, he would rise again, rejuvenated from the blood of his enemies. This amulet, wrought from Aatrox’s soul, imitates that effect.

Darkin Blade The eponymous weapon of the Darkin Blade. Seemingly alive and possessing a will of its own, the coiled blade contracts and expands, always at the most opportune moment, in pursuit of blood. Every strike heals the wielder, encouraging relentless assault on their part, and with a special command, can alternate to strike harder at the cost of the swordsman’s health. Scales with strength and dexterity, and can do slashing and thrusting attacks.

The nature of the Darkin Blade is a subject of speculation, much like its historic wielder. Is it simply a tool as it appears to be, or does it transcend its user? Was Aatrox the Darkin Blade, or whoever used it? Whichever the case, it is a weapon of great bloodlust.

Weapon Art — Blades of Torment: Raise and slam the blade toward an opponent, sending two converging waves of energy to strike them.

Right Hand of Doom The mammoth stonelike gauntlet of Aatrox, fitted over the right hand. Makes the wearer a fearsome hand-to-hand combatant, and can effectively catch and even block attacks to an extent. But of course, it doesn’t offer as much protection as an actual shield, and requires immense strength and endurance to wear. Aatrox walked at a slight lean to offset the weight. Scales with strength, and strikes as a blunt weapon.

Unlike most warriors, Aatrox was left-handed, a peculiarity which he exploited to great effect against the more common right-handed fighter.

Rengar

Soul of the Pridestalker A wild, proud soul. Despite the bestial strength contained within, there is an undercurrent of cunning beneath the surface, and perhaps a sense of acceptance, in recognition of the superior hunter.

The Pridestalker was a leonine being of unknown origin, but a hunter of indisputable skill. He came to challenge a marauding beast from beyond, known as Kha’Zix. Their rivalry remains inconclusive to this day.

Amber Eye A special eye patch belonging to Rengar that emits a dim amber light. Highlights nearby enemies, even through walls or terrain.

Having lost his left eye to an unexpected encounter, Rengar first covered the ruin of his eye with a crude wrap. He later replaced it with this enchanted eye patch, which proved even more useful than his original eye. Still, the loss stung... not because of the wound, but as a token of complacency.

Bonetooth Necklace Gruesome mementos from previous hunts strung on a thick cord. There’s room enough for a few more trophies, why not add to the collection? For every foe struck down, the wearer becomes slightly stronger in every way. This bonus resets upon dying or resting at a bonfire.

Befitting a hunter, Rengar carved off souvenirs from every hunt. Every tooth and claw and piece of chitin served to recall past battles and thrills. Rengar was never without it, even asleep, taking familiar comfort in its weight.

Rengar’s Sporting Knife A brutal curved blade favored by Rengar. At once a weapon and a carving tool, it is capable of parting the thickest of hides with relative ease. Still, a strong arm is needed behind it, and the leonine huntsman had strength in surplus. Scales with strength, and can do thrusting and slashing attacks.

Rengar was found abandoned as a cub and was raised by a human hunter of great repute; none know from whence Rengar came, and he himself cared little. Flourishing under the man’s tutelage, Rengar became a fearsome hunter in his own right, but grew bored with game. It wasn’t until an eldritch visitor took his eye that he felt the thrill of challenge again. Their rivalry became something of legend.

Weapon Art — Thrill of the Hunt: Temporarily render oneself invisible and empower your next attack with the weapon.

Darius

Soul of Darius, the Hand of Noxus:

A soul born from strength. The swirling red mass inspires strength, removing cowardice and replacing it with unnatural morale.

Second in command to the High General Swain, Darius is a warrior who would eviscerate his commanding officers to achieve higher ranks if they showed any hints of weakness or cowardice. Woe befall on those who catch his eye, for he may see you as an obstacle, or another rusty cog to be replaced in the Noxian machine of war.

Axe of Darius:

The mighty axe of Darius, you seem to struggle against the weight that the Hand of Noxus lifted without so much as a sweat with one mighty arm. Will you be the next to inherit this weapon's true potential?

Effect: Causes damage over time bleed effect in enemies struck, at five consecutive strikes you gain bonus movement speed and damage against your foe.

Soul of the Crystal Vanguard An evil soul of hunger and bloodthirst. It bears the mark of Skarner, the former Brackern. It awaits another vessel to unleash it's power upon humanity. It turns any and all it it enters into hungering, blood-lusted monsters.

_The Brackern are massive, glimmering, crystalline scorpions. Skarner was one of them, who adored his kind and was loyal to his leaders. He was also a fierce fighter. The other Brackern marveled at his strength and bravery in combat, even when outnumbered ten to one. He had ventured out one day to explore the forest that surrounded his underground civilization. He encountered a small cave. He did not know within it the Soul of Gluttony was trapped with magic inside. All it needed was a vessel. It took Skarner and clanged to his mind. Skarner was driven insane with hunger. Relentlessly killing human and eating their flesh. To this day, he still wanders, searching for his next victim to ingest. _

Turpis Mors Skarner's first rampage happened in Greece. His stinger was the cause of most of the deaths there. His stinger became infamous. A single nip from it would inject a venom that will melt you from inside out. There is no known medicine that can make humans resistant to Skarner's venom. The venom is a bright, blue color, that even if touched will absorb into your skin. It can pierce through any and all armor, and even through titanium. There is nothing it cannot break through. If Skarner cannot catch you, he will resort to spraying the venom of which it can go up to seventy feet. The notorious stinger of Skarner has earned it's name "Turpis Mors". Latin for "Ugly Death".

Could anyone explain to me what's so great about Dark Souls? I see tons of talk about it but the gameplay honestly looks super lame. Is it just something you like playing it and not watching it, or is it just a nostalgia thing from when the first Dark Souls came out and all the fans are getting in on it?
