I'd say it was split. People were mostly worried about the trolling potential, while the others thought he'd be the worst thing in the game, or the most overpowered depending on how good his ult turned out to be.

I never once in my entire life heard Bard was OP. First night, people were banning him in ranked so people couldn't feed as him.

I still do this. It's not fun auto-winning just because the enemy has bard on their team and it's also not fun auto-losing because your bard let's their adc die 40 times and roams to feed other lanes.
