I disagree with the Fiddle claim, depending on the situation it might be the correct call, and it does take experience to know and be willing to sacrifice ultimate for escaping purposes.

Another similar situation would be Shen or Sion running away to safety through their ulti, since it's always better to waste CD than giving enemies extra leads.

Shen ulting is a scary escape man, you just have to sit there. Faster than recall by a long shot, though.

By far the biggest one I see? Honestly? Doesn't even have to do with a champion.

It's when someone uses summoner 12 on a minion/ward about three feet from their turret.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you may be one of those people and have just never fully read the spell's description. Which I guess a lot of people just didn't, because I still see this all the time, even over a year after I started, with people who have more games in overall than I do.

But people using Mordekaiser who don't W friendly minions qualify. Or Nocturne newcomers who use his ult's second cast as an engage on a full-health target with no one else nearby. Ooh, or Nunu using Zhonya's after he triggers his ult. not realizing it's not the same as Morgana's. I see that a lot, too.

Not using summoner 4 . "I don't need it. I have an escape/initiation." Alistar Headbutts. Gangplank Stacks the barrels all in one place. TwistedFate Literally a slot machine with Pick-a-card. Soraka Heals herself to death at lvl 1. Tristana Jumps into every fight regardless. Garen Playing Garen Singed Has to use ult to run away and they aren't in the enemy base. Sivir Bubbles when she walks forward without seeing a skill fire.

I'm one of those people who actually doesn't like Flash and still consistently does quite well. Because, actually, I don't need it. No one really needs it, and it doesn't necessarily put you at a disadvantage to choose another spell (which, surprise, are actually quite good alternatives). I never liked it that much as a summoner spell, and regardless of role, I rarely die or need to chase someone with it, almost regardless of champ. (And on some champs it's just idiotic. Don't pick Evelynn and bring Flash, it's such a horrible waste in a game in which Devourer+BotRK--or for that matter, Vlad and Swain, or anyone with a ton of lifesteal or way of healing--is so common that it almost requires you to have Ignite.)

Bronzies, on the other hand, will actually dodge games if you don't bring Flash). Which is then proven in the game, and that's fine, because, you know, results.

I've been in a pre-game lobby in which someone will actually announce that my lane's already lost because I didn't bring Flash. Not only did our lane (I was Caitlyn, versus an Ashe, can't recall the supports) win decisively, I ended up quadra-ing in the first big teamfight in the midlane.

The reason is very simple: Flash does not replace warding, which I'd rather bite the bullet on and get at least two of every time I'm at the shop. You don't necessarily have to blow Flash every time the jungler shows up, which is just way too common.

Plats and golds are tied for having flash used the most at 48.2% of the spell slots. Bronze players use it 46.2% of the time.

Try again. Results say people who use flash are higher ranked. Because Flash is how Riot has balanced every dash/jump/speed boost in the game.

Flash has two main points to it that give it utility:

1.) It's instant; no waiting for casting animations. 2.) it can be fired anywhere, even into fog of war, so instead of needing a combo partner like a ward or allied champion you can fling it out anytime anywhere as long as it's off cooldown.

Is it necessary? Not really, no. There are alternatives, especially for some champions that kite or chase well. But it is useful and that's why I love it. I can use it for so many different things. I can surprise people with an extra long range malphite ulti, i can surprise people with an instant alistar pulverise followed up by a headbutt backwards instead of the standard (and remarkably tricky) headbutt-pulverize, I can gap close a faster target for that one last auto attack or spell, I can flash away from a similarly speeded target to avoid the last auto attack or spell, I can flash in or out of dragon/baron pits, I can flash walls in chases, I can flash juke out of bushes to gain even more distance. It's fantastically versatile, and I very much enjoy packing it on most champions/roles.

just stands there attacking and not paying attention to health, dies, and does not by anything other than a vision ward... his excuse is "I wanted to see what a vision ward does" riot... please do something about this, I do not have the time to teach someone the basics of the game during a match, and I don't mean punish them for going in a match they're not ready for. That's just as unnecessary as getting banned from the game for a bot match DC.
