Wimbledofy3 votesso how do you pronounce laser? laser stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. but the s is pronounces as a Z and Honestly these arguments for both sides are dumb. "gif is like gift so it should be hard g" "most g words with an i after it have soft g like gin and giraffe" There are so many exceptions to normal "english pronunciation rules" that it's stupid to say how a new word must be pronounced based on certain rules. Words should be pronounced how they've been generally agreed to be pronounced. At this point people really shouldn't criticized on how to pronounce this word since some words can have multiple pronunciations like the word "either"
