You went to that fight unprepared, underestimating the enemy crit chance. Estimating the potential of your damage and the enemy damage is also a skill, a skill you have not mastered.

Two people both with the same amount of crit chance. Let's day they are even they same champion so 
vs . Let's say exact build too just so then of crit has a bias for an item then it won't matter. What people complain about is that because of RNG one tryndamere might get 3 crits in a row with 90% while the other one only gets 1. They both have the same chance but it wasn't skill that helped him win a 1 v 1. It was pure luck and chance that he got more crit than the other guy with the same build
While crit does do some interesting stuff for the game, I think the solution is to make any crit chance below, say, 20%, a flat damage increase. So if your at 19%, your AA's do 19% bonus damage. If your over 20%, then crit works as normal.
Crits make this game more interesting. Why would you go in to a fight if you know you wont win?
try evaluating the enemy damage when an 8% crit chance gangplank crits 3 times in a row lol

and then you go in with 60% crit chance and lose anyways to the guy who crits on every auto with 35% crit

Except that by that logic, the moment they get a single crit item, hell even havin 1 crit rune, means you need to constantly be wary. No that is not underestimating your opponent, that is thinking 10% crit chance isnt (shouldnt) turn the tides in their favor even though you are better then them.
