If people go all ADCs and assassins, they will deal with whatever support they get.

That aside, Mundo's healing rate makes him a great shock trooper, tank supports get access to a lot of healing rate items, and he can endlessly poke the enemy and as long as he hits is guaranteed to deal a set amount of damage.
