As a Karthus main, trust me, he doesn't need his w (or anything really) buffed. It's very strong against a lot of champions if you know when to use it. While it's mana costs in early game are ridiculous, It provides so much. Anti engage, anti disengage, instant cast slow, mr shred, and it provides vision on top of everything. And if you're playing against an immobile champion it's just a giant middle finger in their direction every time you use it. And don't trust Champion.gg on him, his play rate is small enough that a lot of the time statistics on him are skewed. Some patches he has a 53% win ratio, next patch it's down to 48% for no reason.
