well i mean i dont main adc but whiny or not your supposed to peel for your damage dealers. in the elo i play in most team fight come down to which team focuses the adc and which team focuses the frontline.

if he was whining because you wouldn't peel for him then your basically making the game a 4v5. that you can win if your ahead or the right team comp but you can't really blame the adc for anything.

there is the adc that gets himself in danger and there is the one that gets no proper peel even when he positions correctly.
