Unpopular opinion but as someone who has finished all soulsbourne games at ng+7, I would like to suggest that a sequel should jump off the prequel and do it's own thing. Dark Souls made these types of games popular cuz demon souls got locked behind console paywall. DS2 at least tried to do it's own thing and has the most amount of PVE content with 3 DLC that take 7-8 hours each. DS3 felt like nostalgia cash grab where most of the content like weapons and armour are rehashed DS1 stuff and their latest DLC shows how little commitment they pour into the title( 3 hour dlc with only 2 bosses one of which is a garbage NPC fight). Bloodborne is Miyazaki's favourite game for a reason: it has unique setting, premise and gameplay while keeping the souls formula intact this is what makes it a true sequel to dark souls a thing which imho Dark Souls 2 attempted to do, while Souls 3 will always dwindle in Souls 1 shadow with it's poise lack, cheesy DS1 throwacks and lack of content "prepares for incomming barrage of rotten food and fecal matter"

^this. Most people that i know that have played ALL the souls games(including myself) seem to share this opinion. So many times in DS3 that I'm like WTF!? why is this here?! They really got lazy IMO with DS3. Great game don't get me wrong. but very lazy with all the recycling. You have to play all the souls games to know this, but almost nothing in DS3 is original.

Even though Dark Souls II is the weakest game of the Souls franchise, it would of still been my GoTY and on Steam i've spent over 500 hours on it (mainly due to PvP and helping my friends get through the game on multiple occasions).

Really wish they kept the soul level pvp match making, otherwise I mean it wasn't horrible and it had nice looks. I remember having my main build work off of a really dumb logic in that I was a caster but I wanted to sword fight instead of spam soul arrows. So i just got a moonlight greatsword and point blank right triggered people. Though when some guy parried my moon blast that was kind of just a "holy shit!" moment

While I respect your opinion, I honestly believe the majority of people (even Demon Soul players) will say Dark Souls III rivals Dark Souls if not tops it by a slim. While the first game is a masterpiece, it had flaws; Dark Souls III isn't as original nor does things in story telling to the degree we want it, but every other aspect overtakes the first game's.

I mean can we really say there was a boss in Dark Souls III that was broken and horrible like the Bed of Chaos, or the rehashed Asylum Demons that were used 3x over? Nope.

I've played all of the souls game (demon's souls, Bloodborne, dark souls, dark souls II, and dark souls III) IMO Dark souls III is by far the weakest of the franchise.

I have played the hell out of every Souls game. Dark Souls 3 is by far the best. No contest. Because I only care about Singleplayer gameplay. That's why I also adore Dark Souls 2 even though everything around that gameplay isn't so great.

I hate PvP in all Souls games with a passion that cannot be described, so we might be looking for completely different things. I actually play all of the Souls games offline. Though that's because my PS3 won't let me play online unless I download an update, and I'm too impatient for that, and I can't play online on PS4 because I don't have PSN+.

Dark Souls 3 ranks in my Top 5 favorite games of all time. Bloodborne and Dark Souls make the Top 10. Dark Souls 2 top 20, Demon's Souls top 30, maybe.

if i only liked pvp bloodborne would be my least favorite game. dark souls 3 was fun at first very good game but i got tired of it after I beat it twice unlike the other souls games where I would pvp or do some other shit in it not calling it a bad game just the worst of the series
