Our team wanted to be a bit more transparent around server issues, as well as other information that the NA playerbase may want to hear about. This is 100% a work in progress, so feedback around what’s here, or what you might want to see, is highly appreciated!

Your weekly dose of server problem-os, NA League news, and other! (Now moved to Thursday)

Dark Harvest nerfs (wee, Rune Variation!), Snowdown and All-Star 2018 are arriving soon™, and a bunch of changes to ranked placements may make Pre-season a bit easier. But we broke a lot of things on the other hand...

Server Stuff:

Store config change caused content to be unavailable (12/3/18, ~2 hours). A config push to the store caused content and pricing to be incorrect. Corrections had to be made to fix both the missing content and the pricing. No NA players should be affected.
Sashimi Akali/Statue of Karthus mispriced in Store (separate from the store issue mentioned above) (11/30, ~ 4 days). A misconfiguration in a sale caused a higher price than correct in a widget. Configuration issues were fixed after investigation of where and why the price was incorrect. If you bought either skin for 975 RP between 11/30 and 12/4, please write into Player Support so we can refund the difference
Players cannot gift RP (12/5/18, ~ Ongoing). An update to a plugin broke gifting, oops. Currently fixing the plugin and disabled gifting accordingly.
Signup Issues (12/3/18, ~ 3 hours). Discovered issues with the Signup flow, requiring that we disable signups to fix it. Once fixed, Signups were enabled again; stop being a sad mummy and play with some friends!
Neeko missions scheduled incorrectly (12/4 ~ 1 hour). Neeko missions were enabled in the client before Neeko herself was available (...sneaky bugger, ain’t she?). The missions are disabled until Neeko is enabled.

Game Stuff:

Malzahar disabled on TT (12/2/18, ~ 2 days). Malzahar can cause Altars to not work correctly on TT. While he was disabled, your semi-friendly voidling spammer has been fixed and re-enabled on TT.
A single game server crashed (12/3/18, ~ 1 hour). One single game server had issues finishing games, players were pushed off of it and the server was rebooted. Only a few dozen players should have been affected.
Nocturne Disabled (12/5/18, ~ 3 hours). Nocturne spooked the servers into preventing his ultimate from working properly. After lighting a few candles, his ult was fixed.
Queue Dodge Penalty WherE? (12/5/18, ~ 2 hours). Updates to the League and Ranked system broke queue dodge penalties. Currently coaxing ham and cheese out of the servers in order to fix it.

Player Support Trend:

A new patch usually brings out more in game freezes/FPS drops than normal. Try seeing if checking these steps for low FPS can eke a little more performance out after the patch.

If you find the time, you should really make a video that goes indepth how seemingly small changes can have quite big effects on things that seem to be totally unrelated or seem as if they shouldn't have been effected in the way they did. And of course how you go about identifying and fixing the problems.

As someone who is illiterate when it comes to programming, I'd find that quite interesting.

Appreciate the info already presented though.

E says @SlowAmount@ instead of 0.5s in the tooltip. W says @PassiveDamageCalc@ instead of damage.
W and E don't have a range indicator if you uncheck "use line display" in the game settings. Don't know skill range.
Neeko has abilities that say "Press shift for more details", but shift doesn't actually do anything.
The death recap lists Neeko's abilities as "Q" "W" "E" "R" instead of the skill name. I tried to report these bugs, but the bug report website said it had an error and I should try again later. So add them for me please.
Neeko's W says "Neeko;'s" with the semicolon (typo).

1 and 5 seem to be install issues (I'm in a custom atm, none of those show variable names, they instead show proper scaling, values, punctuation, and other. 2: Not sure if intended, will poke QA 3: Her passive has nothing else to add with shift, but her W does (it moves from bottom right press shift to show more details, to left side 'clone untargetable while stealthed' 4: Another issue with patching. Looks like your files for Neeko are corrupt (wrong something, hence why it's defaulting to variable names instead of actual abilities).

Try just running a repair, that might fix your woes with most of Neeko's issues.

That's weird, because I also have the PBE client installed and it has the exact same issues. An install issue shouldn't appear in 2 seperate installs, right? Or are there maybe config files that PBE and live both share? Edit: It used to happen on PBE a week ago, but it doesn't happen anymore with the current PBE patch. ~~I'll do a client repair after I'm done with my current game and update this post. I also added another bug about buff displays in a post above.~~

EDIT: I pressed "Initiate full repair" and started a custom game,** all of the bugs still persist.**

You're right, I can see the 'clone untargetable while stealthed' in the bottom left corner. (I was checking the ability text for changes and didn't find one there.) The passive should get the shift removed though.

To bring this into the same response thread, I'll add this here:

After you transform, the buff icon in the buff bar of the W ability gets stuck. (the 3 hit proc is 'no icon' 'grey icon' 'green icon', but it freezes and you can have multiple at the same time when transformed)

You should open up a PS ticket for that, I'm guessing from an old tech specialist perspective it has something to do with localization and region, but that's a guess. I'd need some info you really shouldn't post on the forums, so I'd highly recommend opening a tech ticket in PS, since what you see are variable names that aren't being properly displayed. Like VarQNeeko as a variable name, which when properly referenced, actually pops out "Blooming Burst"

One question for me. For the ranked games, is there going to be a fix for LP gain/loss? At this moment, I haven't gained or lost LP for ranked games.

LP Up and Down should have been fixed last night, sometimes player had to relog to see gains (the Leagues DB was slow, causing delayed visuals, but still correct back end collection, so no values were lost server side).

can you explain a little more about what happened with the patch yesterday. i went from gaining 21 lp a win to after patch 13 lp. my friend was s5 went down to b1 . his past highest rank says s1, when he never even made it past s5.

Did you go up in rank because of the change? Like Silver 5 to Silver 4? If so then your Rank increased but your MMR did not. So your LP gains will be lower until you reach the MMR of your rank.

As for your friend, he likely was close to falling and the change pushed him backwards because his MMR wasn't enough to be Silver 4. Past Highest Rank could be FlexQ or 3v3 Ranked.

I checked my account and it looks like the games I played ranked for recently will not be updated? I'm assuming that from now on that it should show LP gained and lost?

If there's broad, Riot-Wide issues, it can go here, but usually we talk about specific NA issues. So EUW may not have had the same store issues that NA did (which can be a good thing...or a bad thing).

server stuff: -some bundle assets are outdated, i checked the Jolly Junglers and Frozen Tops Bundle: Frostblade Irelia, Northern Front Swain and Workshop Nunu are outdated in the assets + the Goth Annie bundle has incorrect Annie -Profile Background Picker has completely bugged for me, i tried every step imaginable to no success of fixing it

game stuff: -Zombie Brand attack audio seems to be bugged atm, it's not game breaking but you can hear his attack audio even when the game is completely muted -dh Miss Fortune nerf when? -will hit boxes be fixed in the future? those can be super off, like you don't get hit by Morgana Q but still get snared, or when Thresh Q doesn't even land and you still get stunned by it

Mind opening up a support ticket? I looked through my store for your server stuff, and couldn't find any of the pictures mismatched (some champs aren't in the bundles you say they are).

As for game stuff, the hitbox stuff has some REALLY complicated explanation around ping differences, hitbox to max range visual recognition depending on camera location. Zombie brand attack I'll check around for.

Im not really sure where to post this first time on the site when i play on nexus after champ selection i cant remember if this happen on other modes but once selection gets low/done it kicks me says i dced and temp blocks me from playing its getting really annoying is it on my end like internet issues or is this a bug on the game also are there any ways i can prevent that from happening

Edit: i should also say when im actually in games playing i get like 60-90 ping

There is a bug with neeko displaying correctly on the scoreboard. It's just blank where she should be until she enters field of view while not disguised. Also I haven't been able to consistently see it happen, but pinging a disguised neeko will sometimes just tell you it is neeko in the chat.

So theres a neeko bug in blind pick modes where if you one neeko on the enemy team has a neeko skin and the neeko on the other team doesn't, if the neeko without the skin decides to transform she has the effect of the neeko with the skin. It's difficult to explain and I dont' know if it's been fixed, or it never happened and i'm just blind. Basically if the neeko without the skin transforms she has that glitter like effect on her when she shouldn't, not a gamebreaking bug but I just wanted to put that out. (●´ω｀●)

I got OLLLLLLD. Seriously. (Not really, but years of insomnia sucks).

Uh, played a LOT of ranked, weaned down a bit off it, swapped job titles a couple of times, worked on finishing two new novels, moved, and a bunch of other randoms stuffarinos. Still wish we had actual weather in LA though. Never got back into streaming though, now I'm just another washed up low-mid diamond player.

Started full time work. Quite league for like 6 months when every game seemed to be Illaoi and Tahm top in the start of season 6 as well as got disenchanted with dynamic Queue being the "permanent" ranked experience. Been playing on an off for season 6 and 7 only to have both of my go too champs get reworked in season 8 and in turn perma banned when I finally did decide to return for more than a few weeks here and there.

Currently it is cold enough to have snow on the ground which there was last week.

Can't climb when the system is against me, intentionally or not. I have a 60 winrate in Silver 1, yet I'm getting 13 LP for a win and losing 25. I talked to a Riot employee on the support page and he said this way normal and it was because of my mmr, yet before the patch I was climbing nicely with even gain/loss of LP.

He told me I had to win more or wait till preseason for things to change, but at this rate I won't be playing much more because the game isn't fun when you aren't climbing up ranks, especially when you are playing well.

I've decided I'm going to intentionally lower my MMR. I'm not having fun playing right now and apparently I'm playing against better players than I should be, so the only solution is to go down in ranks to play against worse players where I belong.

Iron 4 here I come!

Cool rank system btw xD.

Time for me to play a game that isn't out to screw with hard working players.
