Beating Irelia

So, simple question really. How do you beat Irelia in lane? You have more health than her? Stun. Melt. Dead. You have less health than her? Melt. Run. Slow. Dead. I couldn't seem to figure out anyway to kill her other than to have her ganked, but in that particular game literally no one came to help me despite pinging multiple times and saying things like "Hey guys, I'm having a tough time up here with Irelia. Wanna help me out?" Or "I'll try my best not to give her any kills, but she is just diving me under the turret. Anyone want to come help me please?" They gave me foul replies "If you didn't feed her. Don't target the Tank." etcetc. While I know that won't be the case in every game, it will happen in some games, and so my question is...

HOW THE HELL DO I BEAT(or at the very least survive...) IRELIA?! Any tips are welcome. Granted, I was Shen, and her Equilibrium Strike alone counters practically Shen's whole kit.

EDIT: I suppose buying a Banshee's Veil would give me some room to work with, but she completely destroyed me before I could even get one. By then, it became irrelevant. Then of course the fact that the CD on the spell shield is far longer than the CD on her Equilibrium Strike, it would sort of then become a KILL HER NOW or die in 8 seconds.

EDITEDIT: So apparently some people say Shen is good against her. Maybe I just didn't understand her kit enough to beat her. But it seems like my sustain was ruined by her E and and I couldn't poke her down with my Q because of her W.

As an avid Irelia player, i can tell you that it is very difficult to lane against her. She suffers from what I like to call the Nasus Syndrome, where she is suposed to have a weak early game and a strong late game, but ends up having a strong early AND late game.

My advice to going against Irelia is to stack health and try to shut her down before she gets a blade of the ruined king. Honestly, I wouldnt really say theres a champion that can straight counter her, but health stackers like shen, mundo, and syv, I find, tend to do decently well against her. Her power comes from attack speed and her true damage, so Randuins Omen is very good against her, and in a lane against her, I would definitely rush it.

Thats all I can really give you, since I'm much more knowledgeable about playing her than playing against her, but if you do happen to ever have a spare 4800 IP laying around, I would definitely pick her up.
