'as long as they are willing' If (some) people won't even play support correctly when a hardcoded system tells them that's what they're supposed to play, you really think those same people would have played support correctly just because they didn't spam 'mid mid mid mid mid' faster than the 3 other guys who wanted it? Except now you don't spend half of every single champ select arguing about if greedo or han shot first.

The only reason autofill exists is to protect flex (dynamic) que. Riot states that if que times become too long, they will remove Flex, but instead enable 24/7 autofill so that never happens.

With auto-fill, you're gauranteed your role 90% of the time with decently short queues. Without auto fill but role selection, you're guaranteede a role but with large and excessive que times. Everyone says they'd rather wait 10 minutes for a game, but that's clearly not true because auto-fill was implemented as a fix when people were complaining about long queue times.

im sorry what "vital infastructure" does auto-fill implement? and in ur scenario what exactly would be wrong with taking the free road? of course if you want to get to ur destination faster take the toll road (providing, in ur example that's what the toll road is, an express lane) but if you dont care how long it take to get there take the free road.
and that's the prolblem. riot has dug up the free roads and is making you pay the toll.

And, a lot of the time, I'm pretty congenial on switching roles if needed with my team-mates when I DON'T get Auto-Filled. But, for the time-being, Auto-Fill is here to stay, so we're just going to have to weather the storm until when (And IF) things change again.

The longer they are, the more auto-fill is needed to shorten them. Again, they could just go back to pick order. Then you aren't EVER guaranteed one of your roles. They could go back to the "old draft" by which assume you mean simply no auto-fill, but then everyone will be whining that they have to wait 10+ minutes for a game lol.
Fill exists for people who don't mind actually filling out any role. I am, most of the time, one of those people.

and you didnt answer my question. and they COULD revert yi's ult back to alpha strike with a ten target max limit. they could delete sona. they could do a lot of shit. they dont HAVE to go back to pick order. cuz draft is perfectly fine. just remove autofill. stop talking in hypotheticals. it's useless. they COULD bring back autolock. they COULD do many things. what they ARE doing is making ppl play a role they dont want becuz they dont know how to marginalize queue. not my problem. not my problem "the most popular game in the world" is having a hard time finding someone who actually queued for support.

Where's the difference between what you want and what I want? Apart from what we actually want, there isn't one. Your want is more relevant than my want. The entire point is that people act like they should absolutely 100% always get their role and that's just not something that should ever happen unless you're playing among a pool of 5 people for your team. But you aren't. There can be multiple hundreds of thousands of players all at one time and you think that your desire to play something should take precedence over any one of those other hundreds of thousands of players, you should probably play a single player game where you have total control.
Draft is not fine, as was evidenced by people crying about queue times. So they brought in auto-fill. They didn't decide to do it for no reason. They did it to make queue times faster... at the request of players.

If someone who does not know how to play a role regardless of the role selected for them by autofill it takes away from multiple peoples gaming experience. It is not simply just the person who is forced into that role that is subject to a poor game but in fact it is their entire team. If a person cannot jungle well enough to compete at the level that they need to in order to be a functioning member of the team this causes the entire team to suffer for a decision that the player in question didn't even make. it not only can cause someone to feel useless or bad at the game when in fact they are simply unfamiliar with the role but it also contributes to the amount of flame that player may receive. In other words why would you make your quarterback play defensive end once every 3-4 games it just would not make sense. The expectation that everyone who plays this game should be proficient in all roles is frankly ludicrous in nature. Nobody is equally good or in fact equally bad in every role people excel at different aspects of the game based upon their natural skills. For example someone who may not be as mechanically gifted probably wont choose mid or bot lane carry due to the fact that they often times lose lane but if they excel at map awareness and timing they may then lean toward a jungle or top lane role as well as support. This also is evident in the choices they make regarding champion selection. Not everyone can play zed or yasuo but there is a champion and a role for everybody i would recommend letting the players choose. im not saying get rid of the current way that draft works entirely as it is much better than people just calling roles as fast as they can in blind pick but removing autofill will not negatively effect the game as a whole. In closing if you have two roles selected i believe that is enough options for the matchmaking software to work with and you should at the very least be guaranteed to get one of those two roles. But hey maybe im wrong maybe autofill is an absolute necessity for the game to work i doubt it but im not infallible.
