Let's Talk about New Maps for the Community Gameplay Modes.
So with U.R.F. now gone and the next gameplay type being worked on, I think we should stop and consider which modes would need an entirely new map to benefit them if they were made a permanent queue, as well as modes which are fine on the map they were played on or are suited for a map that currently exists.
U.R.F.
So with U.R.F. on it's way out, I think that it should have it's own special map if it came back. I have a few reasons for this that all stem from experience playing this mode:
-
On SR, blue buff is fundamentally useless thanks to the cooldown reductions. Along with that, almost everyone took teleport due to the short death timers and being able to get right back into the action. SR is just too large for such a fast paced game mode.
-
On the other side, ARAM or TT would be over FAR too quickly in an URF setting thanks to just how clustered everything is. Teamfights would be over in a blink and the games couldn't last more than a few minutes, at best.
-
We don't talk about dominion.
With these in mind, I think U.R.F. would highly benefit from it's own map if it became an official queue. Something larger than TT but smaller than SR, with buffs that emphasize on items you wouldn't get in URF due to the lack of mana/CD requirements. (Such as a buff that takes the place of
).
Hexakill
Personally I feel hexakill was in a good spot on summoner's rift. It gave enough uniqueness to add a number six to the fray, as well as the map didn't seem overly burdened by a 12 player participation. While you -might- want to make a small adjustment to allow for an extra buff or two in place of, say, the big wraith camp or the golems, it wouldn't be an entirely map-altering expenditure.
One-for-All
For this mode, I felt it should have been on ARAM instead of SR. The novelty of 5 of the same champion wears out quickly once a frontrunner is established and the use of the ARAM map for a 5v5 of the same could lead to a better opportunity for clearer bans and picks. Asides, five veigars all scrambling for blue does not cooperation make.
Showdown
Showdown was good as it was in terms of map.
I don't think I missed any game modes but there's my rundown. Overall, only U.R.F. was gameplay changing enough to warrant an entire new map, whereas the rest of the mods could do well with minor alterations or just being on another existing map. What do you think, community and/or Riot?
. if we were to have a game mode made like hide and seek (ppl do it on crystale star all the time) it would be a fun concept or maybe add a new mode like capture the flage and the flage be a buff that you run to your base. no towers or something like that. thinkl about it we have a domminion
